Part 2: Isabella Returned After Ten Years… And Adrian’s Biggest Secret Was Finally Exposed

The next morning, Adrian acted as if nothing had happened.

That was the thing about him.

He was always calm.

Always controlled.

Always able to put on the perfect expression no matter what storm was happening inside him.

He kissed my forehead before leaving for work.

Just like every other morning.

—Rest more today. Don’t forget your prenatal vitamins.

I looked at him.

The man standing in front of me was the same husband everyone admired.

Responsible.

Gentle.

Perfect.

But I could no longer see only those things.

Because now I knew there was another version of Adrian Whitmore.

The eighteen-year-old boy who loved Isabella Moore like she was his entire world.

The man who still changed when he heard her name.

The man who whispered:

“I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep pretending.”

I waited until the door closed.

Then I sat on the edge of the bed.

For a long time, I didn’t move.

My hand rested on my stomach.

Our baby was growing quietly inside me.

A child who had no idea that his father’s heart might still belong to someone else.

That afternoon, I made a decision.

I didn’t ask Adrian.

I didn’t confront him.

I didn’t cry and demand an explanation.

Because I suddenly realized something.

A woman who has to beg for the truth has already lost.

So I investigated.

Not because I wanted revenge.

Because I needed to know what kind of marriage I was protecting.

The first thing I found was an old photograph.

It was hidden in the deepest folder of Adrian’s cloud storage.

A photograph from ten years ago.

Adrian and Isabella.

Standing under the cherry blossoms.

He was smiling.

Not the polite smile he gave at business events.

Not the gentle smile he gave me when I did something cute.

A real smile.

A careless smile.

The kind of smile people have when they are completely loved.

Behind the photo was a date.

The day before they broke up.

I zoomed in.

There was a handwritten note.

Only one sentence:

“If we lose each other today, remember that I never stopped choosing you.”

My fingers went cold.

Then I found something else.

A hotel reservation.

Ten years ago.

The same week Isabella disappeared.

The same week Adrian changed completely.

I clicked the record.

And what I found made my breathing stop.

It was not a breakup.

It was a sacrifice.

That night, Adrian came home earlier than usual.

He found me sitting in the living room.

The lights were off.

Only the city lights entered through the window.

—Clara?

I looked up.

—You’re back.

He smiled slightly.

—Why are you sitting here in the dark?

I didn’t answer.

Instead, I placed a photograph on the table.

His expression changed immediately.

Only slightly.

But enough.

—Where did you get this?

So.

He recognized it.

I looked at him.

—You still remember.

Adrian was silent.

For the first time, I saw hesitation.

—Clara…

—Who was Isabella Moore to you?

His jaw tightened.

—A person from my past.

I smiled.

A sad smile.

—Don’t lie to me.

The room became quiet.

Then I asked:

—Was she the person you were going to marry before me?

Adrian looked away.

That was the answer.

Three years.

I had been married to this man for three years.

And I had never asked about the woman who came before me.

Because I trusted him.

Because I believed the past was the past.

But now I understood.

Some people don’t leave your life.

They just wait somewhere in the shadows.

—Why did you marry me? —I asked.

Adrian froze.

He didn’t answer immediately.

That hurt more than anything.

Because there should have been an easy answer.

“You were the person I loved.”

“You were the one I chose.”

“You were my future.”

But he didn’t say any of those.

Finally, he whispered:

—Clara, don’t do this.

I laughed softly.

—Don’t do what?

—Don’t question everything we have.

I looked at him.

—Adrian, I am your wife.

My voice trembled.

—But sometimes I feel like I am the only person in this marriage who believed we were building a future together.

His expression changed.

A flash of guilt crossed his eyes.

Then his phone rang.

The screen lit up.

One name.

Isabella.

We both saw it.

The room became completely silent.

Adrian reached for the phone.

I didn’t stop him.

I just watched.

Because I wanted to know.

Would he reject her?

Would he choose me?

Would he finally prove that I was wrong?

But Adrian didn’t answer immediately.

He stared at the screen.

For several seconds.

Then he walked away.

Again.

Just like on the balcony.

Just like all those times before.

Leaving me behind.

That night, I learned something painful.

Sometimes betrayal doesn’t begin with cheating.

Sometimes it begins when someone keeps a part of their heart locked away from you.

The next morning, I received a message.

Unknown number.

Only one sentence.

“Clara Bennett, you deserve to know the truth.”

Attached was a photo.

A hospital record.

And below it was a name.

Adrian Whitmore.

Isabella Moore.

The date was ten years ago.

The same day they disappeared from everyone’s lives.

My hands began to shake.

Because the secret Adrian had protected for ten years…

Was not just about Isabella.

It was about me.

And the child growing inside me.
