PART 2: The Day He Realized His Wife Was Never The Weak One

Luc Canh Minh did not expect Lin Wei Xi to fight back.

That was the first mistake.

For seven years, he had been too familiar with her silence.

He knew she would wait.

He knew she would forgive.

He knew that whenever the world questioned him, she would be the person standing behind him.

So when the divorce agreement appeared in front of him at three in the morning, he thought it was another emotional moment.

Another argument.

Another time when she would eventually calm down.

He never imagined that the woman sitting across from him had already planned his downfall.

The next morning, the financial world exploded.

The headline appeared everywhere:

“Lam Family Separates From Luc Thi Group On Southern New Energy Project.”

The article was only a few paragraphs long.

But the impact was enormous.

The southern industrial park project had always been considered the symbol of the cooperation between the two families.

A project worth billions.

A project that represented the power of the Luc and Lam alliance.

And now…

Lin Wei Xi had personally withdrawn.

Not emotionally.

Not impulsively.

Professionally.

The market immediately understood.

This was not a wife leaving her husband.

This was one business empire declaring independence from another.

At the Luc family headquarters, the atmosphere was tense.

Luc Canh Minh threw the report onto the desk.

“Who approved this?”

His assistant lowered his head.

“Mr. Luc… the Lam family submitted everything legally.”

“I know that.”

His voice was cold.

“I’m asking who allowed her to prepare this without me knowing.”

Nobody answered.

Because everyone knew.

Nobody had stopped her.

Nobody even realized she had been preparing.

For months.

While Luc Canh Minh was busy attending dinners with celebrities.

While he was accompanying Tieu Nghi.

While he was telling his wife to “understand the situation.”

Lin Wei Xi had been studying every weakness in their project.

Every technical error.

Every financial risk.

Every possible alternative.

She had not been preparing revenge.

She had been preparing freedom.

That afternoon, Luc Canh Minh finally called her.

The call did not connect.

Again.

Blocked.

He stared at the screen.

For the first time in years, he experienced something unfamiliar.

Powerlessness.

He had always believed Lin Wei Xi would never cut him off.

Because she loved him too much.

But he forgot something important.

Love had a limit.

Respect did too.

Three days later, Luc Canh Minh appeared at the Lam family residence.

Her father personally received him.

The old man looked at him calmly.

“Why are you here?”

Luc Canh Minh forced himself to remain polite.

“I need to talk to Wei Xi.”

“She doesn’t want to see you.”

His expression changed.

“She is my wife.”

The old man looked at him.

“No.”

A pause.

“She was.”

Those two words made his face stiffen.

Because everyone had always assumed the Lam family needed him.

But now he realized the opposite.

The Lam family had allowed him into their world.

They had never depended on him.

When Lin Wei Xi finally appeared, she was wearing a simple white suit.

No tears.

No anger.

No desperation.

Just calm.

Luc Canh Minh looked at her for a long time.

The woman in front of him was familiar.

Yet completely different.

“Why?”

That was the first thing he asked.

Not sorry.

Not regret.

Why.

Lin Wei Xi smiled slightly.

“You still don’t understand.”

His eyebrows tightened.

“Understand what?”

“I didn’t leave because of Tieu Nghi.”

Silence.

“I left because of you.”

Those words hit harder than any accusation.

“You kept thinking the problem was another woman.”

She walked closer.

“But the real problem was that every time you had to choose, you made me the person who had to understand.”

Luc Canh Minh’s fingers tightened.

“I never stopped caring about you.”

She looked at him.

“Then why did you keep hurting me?”

No answer.

Because there wasn’t one.

That night, Tieu Nghi contacted him.

Her voice was nervous.

“Canh Minh…”

He answered coldly.

“What?”

She hesitated.

“The contracts…”

“What contracts?”

“My advertising contracts. The investments. They are all gone.”

Luc Canh Minh froze.

The Lam family had moved faster than expected.

Tieu Nghi continued:

“Your company’s stock dropped today.”

Silence.

Then she whispered:

“Are you angry with me?”

For years, he would have immediately comforted her.

But this time, he only felt exhaustion.

Because suddenly he understood.

Everyone around him wanted something.

His power.

His name.

His protection.

Except one person.

The woman who had given him everything without asking for anything.

One month later, the divorce was finalized.

The media expected a dramatic battle.

There was none.

Lin Wei Xi left with nothing from the marriage.

No compensation.

No shares.

No luxury properties.

Only her freedom.

And the project she built became the beginning of the Lam family’s largest expansion.

Six months later, Luc Canh Minh attended a business conference.

The keynote speaker was Lin Wei Xi.

He sat in the audience.

Watching the woman who used to sit beside him.

Now standing alone.

Confident.

Brilliant.

Untouchable.

When she finished her presentation, the entire hall applauded.

Luc Canh Minh was the last person to stand.

Because for the first time, he truly understood.

He had never been supporting her.

He had been standing in her way.

After the conference, they met briefly outside.

“You look well.”

Lin Wei Xi nodded.

“So do you.”

A polite conversation.

Between two people who once shared a life.

Luc Canh Minh looked at her.

“I was wrong.”

She was silent.

“I thought you would always be there.”

“I know.”

“I thought because you loved me, you would forgive everything.”

She looked at him.

“That was your biggest mistake.”

He lowered his head.

“Can you ever forgive me?”

Lin Wei Xi thought for a long time.

Then answered:

“Yes.”

His eyes lifted.

“But forgiveness doesn’t mean returning.”

The hope disappeared.

But this time, he accepted it.

Because he finally understood the difference.

Years later, people still talked about the divorce between the Lam and Luc families.

They called it a business war.

A scandal.

A betrayal.

But Lin Wei Xi knew the truth.

It was not the day she lost her marriage.

It was the day she stopped losing herself.

Luc Canh Minh thought he was the one deciding when the game ended.

He never realized that the woman sitting across from him had already rewritten the rules.
