PART 2: The Accidental Marriage Became The Secret He Had Protected For Years

The dining room remained completely silent.

Nobody moved.

Nobody even dared to breathe too loudly.

Because Liam Li had just said something that changed the entire atmosphere.

“Because I am.”

The father of the baby.

My brain stopped working.

Chloe looked at me.

Then at Liam.

Then back at me.

Her expression was exactly what I felt.

Confusion.

Shock.

And a little bit of betrayal.

“Wait.”

She raised her hand.

“Everyone stop.”

Nobody spoke.

“Are you telling me…”

She pointed at Liam.

“My older brother.”

Then pointed at me.

“My best friend.”

Then looked between us.

“You two…”

She couldn’t finish the sentence.

Liam calmly picked up a glass of water.

“Yes.”

Chloe almost fell backward.

“Since when?”

Liam looked at me.

I looked away.

Because technically…

the answer was embarrassing.

“Since the day we registered our marriage.”

Silence.

The entire family looked like they had forgotten how to react.

That night became the strangest dinner in Ye family history.

Nobody asked about the pregnancy first.

Nobody congratulated us.

Because everyone was still trying to process one fact.

Their eldest son.

The person who avoided relationships.

The person who rejected every arranged marriage.

The person Chloe always described as “emotionless and impossible to approach”…

was secretly married.

To her best friend.

And nobody knew.

Not even his own family.

After dinner, Liam found me standing on the balcony.

The night wind was cold.

“You’re angry.”

I looked at him.

“Shouldn’t I be?”

He didn’t answer.

That was annoying.

Because he always looked so calm.

Like nothing could disturb him.

“You knew.”

“Yes.”

“You knew I was Chloe’s friend.”

“Yes.”

“You knew I was drunk that night.”

“Yes.”

My eyes widened.

“And you still married me?”

He looked at me.

“Yes.”

I laughed.

Not because it was funny.

Because I genuinely didn’t understand him.

“Liam, normal people don’t solve misunderstandings by going to the registry office.”

A small smile appeared on his face.

“Neither do you.”

I froze.

“What?”

“You woke up, saw me beside you, and decided to trust me enough to marry me.”

I opened my mouth.

Then closed it.

Unfortunately…

he was right.

The truth was much more complicated.

That night at the hotel, I thought Liam was Chloe’s second brother.

But he knew exactly who I was.

Because Chloe had shown him my photo before.

She had asked him for advice.

She had said:

“My best friend is too stubborn. She always chooses the wrong men.”

Liam remembered me.

He remembered my name.

And when I mistakenly grabbed his arm outside the bar…

he didn’t correct me immediately.

“Why?”

I asked.

His expression became serious.

“Because I wanted to know you.”

I looked at him.

“You wanted to know me?”

“Yes.”

“By letting me marry you?”

“Yes.”

I stared.

“That sounds insane.”

“It was.”

A pause.

“But I don’t regret it.”

The next morning, I went for a medical checkup.

Liam came with me.

I thought he would be uncomfortable.

Instead, he remembered everything.

The doctor’s instructions.

The vitamins.

The foods I couldn’t eat.

Even the temperature of the room.

I watched him silently.

This was the same man who barely spoke.

The same man I thought was a stranger.

But somehow…

he already knew how to take care of me.

On the way home, I finally asked:

“Why didn’t you tell me who you were?”

Liam looked ahead.

“Because I wanted you to choose me without knowing my identity.”

I frowned.

“What does that mean?”

“You thought I was just a stranger.”

“Yes.”

“You didn’t know I was the CEO of Li Group.”

I stayed quiet.

“You didn’t know my family.”

“You didn’t know my money.”

“You didn’t know anything.”

He glanced at me.

“But you still married me.”

That sentence made me silent.

Because it was true.

For the first time in my life…

someone loved me before knowing what I could offer.

The biggest reaction came from Chloe.

She locked herself in her room for two hours.

When she finally came out, she looked at Liam.

“Brother.”

“Yes?”

“You married my best friend.”

“Yes.”

“You became the father of my best friend’s baby.”

“Yes.”

She took a deep breath.

“Why do I feel like I’m the last person to know everything?”

Liam calmly answered:

“Because you are.”

Chloe almost screamed.

Months passed quickly.

My pregnancy became more difficult.

But this time…

I was not alone.

Liam attended every appointment.

He learned how to prepare meals.

He read parenting books secretly.

I once caught him watching videos about newborn care at three in the morning.

“You?”

He immediately locked his phone.

“I was researching.”

I laughed.

“You look guilty.”

“I am.”

“For what?”

“For not doing this earlier.”

The smile disappeared from my face.

Because I understood what he meant.

He regretted every moment before he knew how to love me properly.

When our daughter was born, Liam cried.

Actually cried.

The man everyone thought had no emotions stood beside the hospital bed holding our baby with shaking hands.

“She’s so small.”

I smiled.

“You’re afraid?”

“Yes.”

I looked surprised.

“Of what?”

He looked at me.

“Of failing you again.”

My heart softened.

Because for the first time, I realized something.

Liam wasn’t afraid of responsibility.

He was afraid of losing us.

One year later, Chloe still complained about our marriage.

“You two are unbelievable.”

I laughed.

“Why?”

“Because most people spend years dating before marriage.”

She pointed at us.

“You two skipped everything.”

I looked at Liam.

He smiled.

“Not everything.”

Chloe frowned.

“What did you not skip?”

Liam answered calmly:

“Falling in love.”

I once thought my biggest mistake was marrying a stranger.

I was wrong.

My biggest mistake was believing that love had to arrive perfectly.

Sometimes it arrives unexpectedly.

Sometimes it comes from the person you never noticed.

Sometimes the person standing beside you at the end…

is the person who was quietly choosing you from the beginning.

I thought I had accidentally married the wrong man.

But fate had only introduced me to the right one in the strangest way possible.
