PART 2: My Husband Let Me Bleed for Three Hours, But He Never Knew What My Jade Was Hiding

The phone rang upstairs.

Adrian Gu looked at the screen.

The name displayed there made his expression change instantly.

Ethan Su.

My brother.

The man who had spent six years staying silent.

Not because he didn’t know what Adrian had done.

But because he respected my choices.

Until tonight.

Until Adrian crossed the last line.

He answered.

“Adrian Gu.”

My brother’s voice came through the phone.

Calm.

Cold.

Terrifyingly calm.

“You have ten minutes to tell me where my sister is.”

Adrian frowned.

“What are you talking about?”

“Don’t pretend.”

The room became silent.

“After ten minutes, I will no longer ask.”

A pause.

“Everything you built will disappear.”

The call ended.

Adrian stared at the phone.

For the first time that night…

Fear appeared in his eyes.

Serena noticed.

“What happened?”

He didn’t answer.

Because for six years, he had believed the Su family was finished.

He believed I was alone.

He believed marrying into the Gu family meant I had lost everything behind me.

He forgot one thing.

A person can lose their position, their money, and their power…

But they never lose the people who truly love them.

Six years ago, when I married Adrian, everyone said I was lucky.

The Gu family was powerful.

Adrian was brilliant.

Handsome.

Successful.

A man every woman wanted.

But my father had hesitated.

The night before my wedding, he sat in the garden with my mother’s jade pendant in his hand.

He asked me:

“Vivian, are you sure?”

I laughed.

“Why wouldn’t I be?”

He looked at me for a long time.

Then he said:

“Because Adrian Gu is a man who has never lost anything.”

I didn’t understand.

“What does that mean?”

My father placed the jade in my palm.

“It means he doesn’t know the difference between loving something and owning it.”

I thought my father was being too suspicious.

I was wrong.

After Adrian brought Serena home, I spent years convincing myself everything would change.

I told myself:

“He is just confused.”

“He still loves me.”

“He will eventually remember our promises.”

But every day, I became smaller.

Until one day…

I no longer recognized myself.

The woman who once controlled a company.

The woman who traveled alone.

The woman who made decisions without hesitation.

She disappeared.

And Adrian loved that version of me.

The quiet one.

The obedient one.

The one who stopped fighting.

But tonight…

The old Vivian returned.

Because when a person is close to death, they stop lying to themselves.

And I finally understood.

I didn’t need Adrian to choose me.

I needed to choose myself.

Ethan returned to the basement.

His face was different.

“Your brother knows.”

I held the memory card tightly.

“Good.”

He looked at me.

“Mrs. Gu…”

I shook my head.

“Not anymore.”

He was silent.

Then he nodded.

“Vivian.”

I looked at him.

“Thank you.”

For six years, Ethan had been Adrian’s security chief.

But he had never truly been Adrian’s person.

Because he had seen everything.

Every humiliation.

Every punishment.

Every time Adrian treated me like something disposable.

And tonight…

He finally chose the right side.

The memory card contained a recording.

Not one.

Hundreds.

My father had known Adrian was dangerous.

Before the wedding, he hired someone to investigate the Gu family.

What he found terrified him.

Adrian’s company had hidden debts.

Illegal financial transfers.

And worse…

A recording of Adrian himself.

Six years ago.

Before our wedding.

His voice filled the small device.

“I don’t care about Vivian’s feelings.”

“Her family background is what matters.”

“The Su family’s resources will help Gu Holdings expand.”

Another voice asked:

“And if she finds out?”

Adrian laughed.

“She loves me.”

“Women like her always forgive.”

My hands trembled.

Not from pain.

From realization.

The marriage I thought began with love…

Had begun as a transaction.

But the recording continued.

And this time…

Serena’s name appeared.

“I need someone else involved.”

Adrian’s voice.

“Someone who can make Vivian give up.”

A man’s voice asked:

“Serena?”

“Yes.”

“She knows her role.”

I closed my eyes.

Everything became clear.

Serena wasn’t the beginning.

She was part of the plan.

Upstairs, Adrian listened as Ethan’s people arrived.

The Gu mansion was surrounded.

Adrian finally understood.

The woman he had left bleeding downstairs…

Was not powerless.

She was the daughter of the Su family.

And he had spent six years waking up the sleeping giant.

The basement door opened again.

This time…

It wasn’t Ethan.

It was my brother.

Ethan Su.

He walked in.

And when he saw me…

His expression changed.

For the first time in years, I saw my brother lose control.

“Vivian.”

I tried to smile.

“I’m okay.”

He looked at my broken body.

Then at Ethan Chen.

Then his eyes became cold.

“No.”

His voice shook.

“You were surviving.”

At the hospital, the doctors worked for hours.

The injuries were severe.

The bleeding was dangerous.

But I survived.

When I woke up three days later, the first person I saw was my brother.

He was sitting beside my bed.

“You scared me.”

I smiled weakly.

“Sorry.”

He looked away.

“You always apologize.”

A tear fell from his eye.

“Even when others hurt you.”

I closed my eyes.

And for the first time…

I allowed myself to cry.

Adrian Gu was arrested.

The evidence from the memory card was enough.

Fraud.

Financial crimes.

Domestic abuse.

The Gu family tried to protect him.

But the Su family did not step aside.

Not this time.

The man who once told me nobody would believe me learned something important.

Power is not about making people afraid of you.

Power is about having someone stand beside you when everyone else walks away.

Months later, Adrian requested a meeting.

I agreed.

Not because I missed him.

Because I wanted closure.

He looked thinner.

Older.

Broken.

“Vivian.”

I sat across from him.

“Adrian.”

He lowered his head.

“I was wrong.”

I said nothing.

“I really thought you would always stay.”

I looked at him.

“That’s because you never understood why I stayed.”

He looked up.

“I stayed because I loved you.”

A pause.

“Not because you deserved it.”

His eyes turned red.

“I lost everything.”

I nodded.

“No.”

“You lost the person who protected you from becoming the person you are.”

I stood up.

The conversation was over.

Before leaving, I placed something on the table.

My wedding ring.

The same ring I had worn for six years.

Adrian looked at it.

“I thought you would never take it off.”

I smiled.

“So did I.”

Then I left.

One year later, I returned to the Gu mansion.

Not as Mrs. Gu.

Never again.

The house was sold.

The garden where Adrian once promised forever was empty.

But I felt nothing.

Because some places only hold memories.

They don’t hold your future.

I rebuilt my life.

The Su family welcomed me back.

I returned to business.

I traveled.

I laughed again.

And one day, I realized something.

The woman who lay bleeding in the basement thought she was losing everything.

She was wrong.

That night…

She lost only one thing.

A man who never deserved her.

Adrian Gu thought refusing me medical help would teach me a lesson.

He thought pain would make me obedient.

He thought I would remain the woman who forgave everything.

But he forgot something.

Jade can break.

A heart can break.

A person can break.

But sometimes…

Breaking is the moment when everything hidden inside finally comes out.

And when I shattered that jade piece…

I didn’t reveal a secret that saved my life.

I revealed the truth that destroyed his.
