PART 2: Sebastian Had To Kneel For The Children He Almost Lost

The room fell into complete silence.

Nobody expected those words from me.

Not Victoria Hale.

Not Camila Rhodes.

Not even Sebastian.

For three years, they had seen me as the obedient wife.

The woman who lowered her head.

The woman who endured.

The woman who smiled even when Sebastian’s heart was somewhere else.

But that woman was gone.

Sebastian stared at me.

His face changed several times.

Anger.

Shock.

Then something I had never seen before.

Fear.

—Isabella…

His voice was lower.

Almost pleading.

—Don’t do this.

I looked at him.

—Why?

He clenched his fists.

—Because this isn’t about me.

I smiled.

—No.

I corrected him.

—This is exactly about you.

The babies inside me moved slightly.

I placed my hand over my stomach.

—For three years, I was your wife when you needed someone to stand beside you.

—When your family criticized you, I defended you.

—When your company had problems, I stayed awake with you.

—When your mother treated me like I was never good enough, I swallowed everything.

My eyes met his.

—But the moment Camila came back…

I laughed softly.

—Suddenly I became someone you could replace.

Camila’s expression changed.

She stepped forward.

—Isabella, you misunderstand.

I looked at her.

—Do I?

She opened her mouth.

But no words came out.

Because everyone in that room knew.

She was the reason Sebastian had forgotten how to look at me.

Victoria stepped forward angrily.

—Enough.

Her voice was sharp.

—You are carrying Hale family blood. Don’t act as if you have the power to negotiate.

I turned to her.

—Negotiate?

I repeated.

—Mrs. Hale, you still don’t understand.

I am not negotiating.

I am deciding.

Sebastian closed his eyes.

Then slowly…

He lowered himself.

One knee touched the floor.

The sound was small.

But everyone heard it.

Victoria froze.

Camila’s face turned completely pale.

Even the doctor looked surprised.

Because Sebastian Hale…

The man who never apologized.

The man who controlled every situation.

The man who had made me beg for attention countless times…

Was kneeling.

—Isabella.

His voice was hoarse.

—I was wrong.

I looked at him silently.

He continued:

—I thought you would always wait for me.

A bitter smile appeared on my lips.

—Yes.

—You did.

I looked away.

—You were right.

—I waited.

—Too long.

Sebastian lowered his head.

—The children…

I interrupted him.

—Don’t use them as an excuse.

His expression hurt.

—They’re my children.

—Yes.

I nodded.

—And they are also my children.

I looked directly at him.

—But they are not a reason for me to return to a marriage where I was alone.

For the first time…

Sebastian had nothing to say.

The next morning, I left the hospital.

Not because Sebastian convinced me.

Not because Victoria apologized.

Not because Camila disappeared.

I left because I had made my decision.

My lawyer arrived that afternoon.

The divorce was already finalized.

The property division was complete.

I had nothing left connecting me to the Hale family.

Except three babies.

A week later, Sebastian came to my apartment.

I almost didn’t recognize him.

No expensive suit.

No arrogant expression.

Just a tired man standing outside my door.

—Can I come in?

I looked at him.

Then stepped aside.

He placed a folder on the table.

—These are documents.

I opened them.

The first page shocked me.

He had transferred several properties into my name.

I looked up.

—What is this?

—Security.

His voice was quiet.

—For you and the children.

I closed the folder.

—Money doesn’t fix everything, Sebastian.

He lowered his eyes.

—I know.

A pause.

—That’s why I didn’t bring it to fix anything.

I looked at him.

—Then why?

He swallowed.

—Because I finally understood that when I was losing you…

I thought I was losing my wife.

His eyes became red.

—But I was actually losing the only person who ever truly loved me.

I didn’t answer.

Because some words arrive too late.

Beautiful.

Painful.

But too late.

Months later, my triplets were born.

Two boys.

One girl.

Healthy.

Strong.

Sebastian was outside the delivery room.

He cried when he heard their first cries.

Not because they carried the Hale blood.

Not because they represented an heir.

But because they were his children.

And because he almost lost the chance to know them.

Years passed.

Sebastian became a different person.

Not because I forgave him immediately.

Not because the past disappeared.

But because he finally learned something important:

Love was not something you could put aside and recover whenever you wanted.

One afternoon, my daughter asked:

“Mommy, why does Daddy always look at you like he is scared?”

I smiled.

Because children see things adults hide.

I touched her hair.

“Because sometimes people only realize how precious something is after they almost lose it.”

I never went back to being the woman who begged for love.

I never became the wife who waited in silence.

I became Isabella Morgan.

A mother.

A woman.

Someone who finally understood her own worth.

And Sebastian Hale?

He spent the rest of his life proving that the woman he once abandoned…

Was the one person he should have protected from the beginning.
