PART 2: The Truth Behind The Three Children

Gabriel Morrison sat alone in his office for almost an hour.

The three DNA reports were placed in front of him.

Three envelopes.

Three names.

Three truths he didn’t want to accept.

He had imagined many possibilities.

He had imagined Clara lying.

He had imagined someone else deceiving him.

He had even imagined that the doctor was wrong.

But he never imagined this.

Because the results were clear.

Ethan Bennett: no biological relationship.

Lucas Bennett: no biological relationship.

Noah Bennett: no biological relationship.

None of them were his sons.

The three children he had protected.

The three children he had fought with Elena for.

The three children that had made him destroy his own marriage.

They weren’t his.

Gabriel leaned back in his chair.

For the first time in many years, he felt completely powerless.

His phone rang.

It was Clara.

He looked at the screen for a long time.

Before, he would have answered immediately.

Before, one message from her was enough to make him smile.

Before, he believed that woman was the only person who truly understood him.

But now…

He saw a different face.

Not a lover.

Not a victim.

A liar.

He answered.

—Gabriel, are you busy?

Her voice was still soft.

Still gentle.

Still pretending.

—What do you need?

There was a pause.

She noticed his coldness.

—Why are you speaking like that?

Gabriel closed his eyes.

—Clara.

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

—Tell me something.

—What?

—Whose children are they?

Silence.

Complete silence.

For several seconds, nobody spoke.

Then Clara laughed nervously.

—What kind of question is that?

—Answer me.

His tone changed.

—Whose children are Ethan, Lucas and Noah?

The silence became heavier.

Then Clara whispered:

—Who told you?

Those four words were enough.

Gabriel understood everything.

He hung up.

That night, he went home earlier than usual.

The house was quiet.

The same house where Elena had waited for him for five years.

The same house where she had eaten dinner alone countless times.

The same house where he had brought another woman’s children while treating his own wife like an outsider.

He found Elena in the garden.

She was watering flowers.

She looked peaceful.

Not broken.

Not angry.

Just peaceful.

Gabriel stopped several meters away.

—Elena.

She turned around.

A small smile appeared.

—You’re home early.

Those simple words almost destroyed him.

Because she still spoke to him like a wife.

Even after everything.

—Why didn’t you ask me?

Elena tilted her head.

—Ask you what?

—About Clara.

The watering can in her hand stopped.

For a moment, there was silence.

Then she placed it down.

—Does it matter now?

Gabriel’s chest tightened.

—You knew.

It wasn’t a question.

Elena looked at him.

And that calm expression finally showed a trace of sadness.

—Yes.

His breathing stopped.

—Since when?

—Since the beginning.

Gabriel staggered slightly.

—You knew Clara’s children weren’t mine?

Elena nodded.

—Yes.

—Then why didn’t you tell me?

She looked at him for a long time.

Then she smiled sadly.

—Because I told you.

Gabriel froze.

He searched his memories.

And suddenly remembered.

Five years ago.

The first time Clara announced her pregnancy.

Elena had stood in front of him.

Her face pale.

Her voice trembling.

“Gabriel, are you sure this child is yours?”

And he had answered angrily:

“Elena, don’t be cruel.”

“You are jealous of an innocent child.”

She had lowered her head.

She never asked again.

Gabriel covered his face.

The shame was unbearable.

She had tried to warn him.

But he chose not to listen.

He chose the story he wanted to believe.

Because believing Clara meant he could have everything.

A perfect wife.

A secret lover.

Children.

A family admired by everyone.

Except none of it was real.

—Why didn’t you leave me?

Elena looked at him.

The question seemed to surprise her.

Then she answered quietly:

—Because I was waiting.

Gabriel’s heart tightened.

—Waiting for what?

She looked toward the house.

—For the day you finally looked at me.

The words hurt more than any accusation.

Because they were true.

For five years, Elena had not been fighting Clara.

She had not been competing.

She had simply been waiting for her husband to wake up.

The next morning, Gabriel went to Morrison Group.

His first order was simple.

—Suspend Clara Bennett immediately.

The executives looked shocked.

Everyone knew Clara had been close to him.

—President Morrison, is there a reason?

Gabriel looked at the documents on the table.

—Fraud investigation.

The room went silent.

When Clara arrived, she was still confident.

She walked into his office wearing the same expression she had worn for years.

Until she saw the documents.

Until she saw the DNA reports.

Her face turned white.

—Gabriel…

He looked at her.

Not with love.

Not with anger.

Only disappointment.

—How long?

She lowered her eyes.

—What?

—How long did you plan this?

Her lips trembled.

—It wasn’t like that.

—Then explain.

She couldn’t.

Because there was nothing left to explain.

Three months later, the Morrison family became the biggest scandal in the city.

The woman everyone thought had replaced Elena…

Had never truly belonged there.

The children returned to their biological family.

The company recovered.

And Gabriel…

He spent the rest of his life trying to repair something he had destroyed himself.

One year later.

Elena stood in front of a small apartment window.

Not a mansion.

Not a luxury house.

Just a quiet place filled with sunlight.

Gabriel stood behind her.

He had changed.

But Elena knew something.

Some mistakes could be forgiven.

But they could never be erased.

—Do you regret it? —he asked softly.

Elena looked outside.

—No.

Gabriel was surprised.

—No?

She smiled.

—Because if I regretted everything, I would still be the woman who waited for you.

She turned around.

—I’m not that woman anymore.

And for the first time…

Gabriel understood.

The greatest loss of his life was not losing three children who were never his.

It was losing the one person who loved him when he had nothing to offer.

Elena Carter.

The woman who stayed silent.

Not because she was weak.

But because one day…

She knew the truth would speak for itself.
