Part 2: The Blackwood Family Begged Too Late

The moment Alexander heard the words “main heiress of the Shen family,” the arrogance on his face disappeared.

For several seconds, he simply stared at me.

As if his brain refused to accept what his eyes were seeing.

“Impossible.”

His voice was almost a whisper.

Vanessa grabbed his arm.

“Alex…”

But she was no longer pretending to be calm.

Her fingers were trembling.

The older man in the suit stepped forward.

“My name is Robert Lin. I have managed the Shen family’s legal affairs for twenty years.”

He looked at Alexander.

“Mr. Blackwood, perhaps you should review the information about the woman you just divorced before insulting her again.”

Alexander’s face turned pale.

“No.”

He looked at me.

“Elena… tell me this is some kind of misunderstanding.”

I looked down at my twins’ medical records.

The same man who had refused to even ask if his children were alive was suddenly afraid.

Funny.

When I needed him most, he chose Vanessa.

Now that he discovered my identity, he wanted an explanation.

“I never lied to you.”

My voice was calm.

“You never asked.”

Alexander froze.

Because that was true.

For seven years, he never tried to know me.

He only knew the version of me he created in his mind.

A woman who needed him.

A woman who was lucky to marry him.

A woman who would never leave.

Robert handed him a folder.

Inside were documents.

Company records.

Investment reports.

Contracts.

The same contracts that had allowed Blackwood Group to expand internationally.

Alexander flipped through the pages.

His hands slowly began shaking.

“No…”

His eyes stopped on one signature.

Deep Blue Capital.

Founder.

Elena Shen.

His lips parted.

“You…”

“Yes.”

I interrupted.

“That was me.”

Vanessa stepped backward.

She finally understood.

The woman she had mocked for years.

The woman she called a burden.

The woman she thought she had defeated.

Was the person who had quietly protected the Blackwood empire.

“You knew?”

Alexander looked at me.

“You knew all this time?”

I laughed softly.

“Did it matter?”

He couldn’t answer.

Because the truth was obvious.

If I had revealed my identity earlier, he would have treated me differently.

But I didn’t want a husband who loved my surname.

I wanted a man who loved me.

And he failed.

The nurse suddenly entered.

“Mrs. Shen, the transfer team is ready. The babies can be moved within the next hour.”

Mrs. Shen.

Not Mrs. Blackwood.

Alexander noticed.

His expression changed again.

“No.”

He stepped forward.

“Wait.”

The security team immediately blocked him.

“Don’t touch them.”

His voice became desperate.

“They are my children.”

I looked at him.

A few hours ago, he had called them useless.

A burden.

A shame.

Now they were suddenly his children.

“Are they?”

My question made him silent.

“Elena…”

“No.”

I held the check in my hand.

“Remember what you said.”

His face became tense.

“I was angry.”

“You were honest.”

Those words hurt him more than anything.

Because deep inside, he knew.

He hadn’t said those things because he was angry.

He said them because he believed them.

Vanessa suddenly stepped forward.

“Alexander, don’t let her take them.”

Everyone turned toward her.

She forced tears into her eyes.

“The children belong to the Blackwood family too.”

I looked at her.

For the first time, I saw panic instead of confidence.

“You’re worried about the children?”

She didn’t answer.

I smiled.

“No.”

“You’re worried because the moment these children return to the Shen family, your child loses the position you promised yourself.”

Vanessa’s face changed.

Alexander looked at her.

“What does that mean?”

Silence.

A dangerous silence.

I had already investigated.

I knew everything.

Robert opened another file.

“Mr. Blackwood, there is another matter.”

Alexander looked confused.

“What?”

“The pregnancy test results of Miss Reed.”

Vanessa’s expression changed instantly.

“Don’t.”

Robert continued.

“The documents provided to the Blackwood family contain several inconsistencies.”

Alexander turned slowly.

“Vanessa?”

She grabbed his hand.

“Alex, listen to me.”

But he pulled away.

For the first time, he looked at her with suspicion.

I watched quietly.

The woman who had smiled while standing beside my hospital bed.

The woman who believed she had won.

Now she was the one afraid.

Robert closed the folder.

“We can discuss the details later.”

The medical team prepared to leave.

I picked up my children carefully.

Their tiny faces were peaceful.

They didn’t know that their father had abandoned them.

They didn’t know that their mother had already chosen them over everything.

Alexander followed us to the door.

“Elena.”

I stopped.

His voice was different now.

Not arrogant.

Not cold.

Broken.

“Can I see them?”

I looked back.

For a moment, I remembered the man I loved.

The man who once held my hand.

The man who promised he would protect me.

Then I remembered his words.

The Blackwood family cannot afford that shame.

I shook my head.

“No.”

His eyes turned red.

“They are my children.”

I smiled faintly.

“You gave them up before they even opened their eyes.”

The door closed between us.

That night, the news exploded.

The mysterious founder of Deep Blue Capital appeared publicly for the first time.

The Shen heiress who had been hidden for years.

And beside the article was another headline:

“Blackwood Group shares collapse after CEO’s private scandal exposed.”

Alexander saw the news from his office.

The same office I had helped him build.

The same empire I had protected.

His phone rang.

His assistant’s trembling voice came through.

“President Blackwood…”

“What?”

“The board is requesting an emergency meeting.”

“Why?”

A pause.

Then:

“Because they believe the real reason Blackwood Group survived these years…”

“Was Mrs. Blackwood.”

Alexander closed his eyes.

Mrs. Blackwood.

The title he no longer had the right to use.

At that moment, another message arrived on his phone.

It was from me.

Only one sentence.

“Alexander, remember the day you gave me two hundred million?”

He stared at the screen.

The next line appeared.

“That was the cheapest price you ever paid for losing everything.”
