PART 2: THE BANK LOST TWO HUNDRED MILLION BEFORE THEY REALIZED WHO I WAS

The moment I said those words, Director Harris was silent for three seconds.

Then his voice changed completely.

“Miss Lin… are you serious?”

I looked at the bank building behind me.

The glass doors.

The logo.

The place where I had spent years proving my ability.

“Yes.”

“I want to transfer everything.”

“Two hundred million yuan.”

The other side became quiet.

Then I heard papers being moved.

“Miss Lin, we will immediately prepare the private banking service.”

“No need for special treatment.”

I smiled.

“Just process the transfer normally.”

“But…”

He hesitated.

“You know this means the bank will notice immediately.”

“I know.”

“And they will probably try to contact you.”

I looked at my former workplace.

“Let them.”

I hung up.

Then I walked away.

For the first time in three years, my steps felt light.

That afternoon, the entire bank was still celebrating my departure.

Rachel Zhang sat at my old desk.

She had already moved some of her things there.

Manager Wallace walked past and nodded approvingly.

“Rachel, from now on you will handle Clara’s clients.”

She smiled.

“Thank you, Manager Wallace.”

Everyone knew what had happened.

Everyone knew who had replaced me.

But nobody knew the truth.

The person they called “poor Clara who took supermarket cards”…

Was the same person whose account had quietly brought millions in private banking revenue to the bank every year.

Thirty minutes later.

Manager Wallace’s phone rang.

He looked annoyed.

“Hello?”

The next second, his expression changed.

“What?”

The entire office became silent.

His face turned pale.

“No, that must be a mistake.”

He stood up.

“Two hundred million?”

Rachel stopped smiling.

Manager Wallace slowly lowered the phone.

The room was completely quiet.

One employee whispered:

“What happened?”

He didn’t answer.

Because at that moment, his computer received a notification.

VIP customer fund transfer request received.

Customer name:

Clara Lin.

Rachel’s face instantly lost color.

“No…”

Manager Wallace looked at her.

“You knew?”

Her lips trembled.

“I…”

“You knew who she was?”

Nobody spoke.

The same colleagues who had watched me leave with a cardboard box now looked at each other.

Then another phone rang.

This time, it was the branch director.

Manager Wallace answered with shaking hands.

“Yes, Director.”

A furious voice came from the other side.

“What exactly did your branch do?”

“Do you know how much business Clara Lin brought to this bank?”

“She transferred two hundred million because she was fired over one thousand yuan?”

The manager’s forehead was covered in sweat.

“Director, I can explain…”

“No.”

The voice became colder.

“You explain to headquarters.”

The call ended.

Rachel suddenly stood up.

“Manager Wallace, you have to help me.”

“You said she was just an ordinary employee.”

Wallace stared at her.

For the first time, he looked at Rachel like she was the problem.

“You never told me.”

Rachel’s face turned white.

“But you wanted her gone too!”

“Yes.”

He clenched his fists.

“But I didn’t know she was…”

He couldn’t finish.

Because everyone now understood.

They hadn’t fired an ordinary employee.

They had personally pushed away one of the bank’s most valuable clients.

That evening, my phone kept ringing.

Manager Wallace.

Rachel.

The branch director.

I didn’t answer any of them.

Then a message arrived.

From Manager Wallace.

“Clara, there must be a misunderstanding.”

“Please come back and discuss.”

“We can reconsider the termination.”

I looked at the message.

Then I smiled.

Yesterday, they asked me to leave.

Today, they were asking me to return.

But they still didn’t understand.

The reason I left wasn’t because I lost my job.

It was because I finally realized…

I had been lowering myself to stay in a place that never deserved me.

I typed one reply:

“Manager Wallace.”

“You were right about one thing.”

“The bank must follow strict rules.”

“So please follow the rules.”

“My resignation is already effective.”

“Please do not contact me again.”

I pressed send.

Then I put my phone down.

But I didn’t know yet…

That the transfer of two hundred million wasn’t the biggest shock waiting for them.

Because when the headquarters reviewed my account history…

They discovered something even more terrifying.

For three years…

The “ordinary employee” they bullied every day…

Had secretly been the largest shareholder of the entire bank.
