PART 2: VAN NINH LEFT THE LUC FAMILY, BUT THEY DIDN’T KNOW WHAT THEY HAD LOST

Luc Minh Thanh stared at me.

Maybe he was waiting for me to explode.

To cry.

To beg him not to let me leave with nothing.

But I only looked at the empty suitcase beside me.

Three years.

Three years living in the Luc family home.

Three years waking up earlier than everyone else.

Three years remembering his family’s habits, preparing meals, taking care of every detail.

And now…

I wasn’t even allowed to take the clothes I bought myself.

I smiled slightly.

—Are you satisfied now?

Luc Minh Thanh frowned.

—What do you mean?

I looked around the living room.

The expensive furniture.

The paintings.

The decorations that everyone believed represented my life.

But none of them were mine.

—Nothing.

I picked up the empty suitcase.

—You reminded me of something very important.

His expression changed slightly.

—What?

I looked directly at him.

—For three years, I kept thinking this was my home.

Silence.

—But today I finally understand.

I lowered my eyes.

—It was only a place where I stayed.

Luc Tu Dao’s smile disappeared for a second.

She didn’t like the calmness in my voice.

She stepped forward.

—Van Ninh, don’t pretend to be noble.

—You are leaving because my brother doesn’t love you anymore.

—Don’t make it sound like you are the victim.

I looked at her.

Three years ago, when I married into the Luc family, she had already decided that I was not good enough.

Every time I bought something, she said I was wasting money.

Every time Minh Thanh gave me something, she said I didn’t deserve it.

And every time I remained silent, they thought I was weak.

But people often make the same mistake.

They confuse patience with weakness.

I picked up my coat from the sofa.

Then I placed the wedding ring on the table.

The sound was very soft.

But everyone heard it.

Luc Minh Thanh’s face changed.

—What are you doing?

I looked at the ring.

—Returning something that doesn’t belong to me anymore.

His voice became colder.

—Van Ninh.

—Do you think throwing away the ring makes you look proud?

I shook my head.

—No.

—I’m just tired of holding something that has already lost its meaning.

For the first time, Luc Minh Thanh didn’t immediately respond.

Maybe because he remembered.

The day he put that ring on my finger.

He held my hand and promised:

“Van Ninh, no matter what happens, you will always have a place in my life.”

But promises were easy when they cost nothing.

Luc Tu Dao suddenly laughed.

—Brother, let her go.

—She thinks she can survive outside?

—Without the Luc family, what does she have?

I didn’t answer.

I just opened the door.

Before leaving, I stopped.

Not because I wanted to say goodbye.

But because I suddenly remembered something.

I turned around.

—Luc Minh Thanh.

He looked at me.

—There is one thing you should know.

—The apartment, the car, and all the things you think belong to the Luc family…

I paused.

—You should check the purchase records carefully.

His eyebrows tightened.

—What are you talking about?

I smiled.

—You will know soon.

Then I walked out.

The door closed behind me.

For the first time in three years…

I felt like I could breathe.

Outside the Luc family’s mansion, a black car was already waiting.

The driver immediately got out and opened the door.

—Miss Van, welcome back.

I nodded.

I got into the car.

Inside was a document folder.

On the cover was a familiar name.

“Van Group.”

The company my grandfather left me.

The company I hid from everyone after marrying Luc Minh Thanh.

Because I wanted to know if he loved me…

or if he loved my identity.

Now I had the answer.

My phone vibrated.

It was a message from Luc Minh Thanh.

Only four words.

“Come back. We need to talk.”

I looked at the screen.

Three years ago, I would have rushed back.

Today, I only replied:

“Mr. Luc, we have nothing to discuss.”

A few seconds later, another message arrived.

This time from Luc Tu Dao.

“Van Ninh, don’t be too proud. My brother will never come looking for you.”

I smiled.

Because she still didn’t understand.

I wasn’t waiting for Luc Minh Thanh to come back.

I had spent three years proving that I could stand beside him.

Now…

I was going to show them what happened when I stopped standing behind him.

And when Luc Minh Thanh finally discovered who had been paying for half of the life he called his own…

It would already be too late.
