PART 2: HA DINH CHAU FINALLY UNDERSTOOD THAT I WAS REALLY LEAVING

The sentence “Uncle Ha said this is our home” made the entire rooftop fall silent.

The two little girls hid behind Lam Man.

Aunt Dao lowered her head.

And Ha Dinh Chau…

For the first time, he didn’t know what to say.

I looked at him.

The man who once promised that this house would always belong to me.

The man who said I was the only exception in his life.

Now he was standing in front of me, unable to deny that another woman and her children had already taken my place.

“Ha Dinh Chau.”

My voice was calm.

“How long have they been living here?”

He frowned.

“Don’t misunderstand.”

“Lam Man only needed a temporary place to stay.”

“Temporary?”

I looked around.

“Temporary people don’t replace the door password.”

“Temporary people don’t sleep in the master bedroom.”

“Temporary people don’t throw away the things of the owner of the house.”

His expression changed.

“I didn’t throw them away.”

“You just moved them.”

I smiled.

“Is there any difference?”

Ha Dinh Chau became silent.

Because there wasn’t.

Lam Man quickly wiped her daughter’s tears.

“Tinh Dao, I know you are angry.”

“But the children are innocent.”

“After their father left, they had nowhere to go.”

I looked at her.

“I never blamed the children.”

“I am asking why my husband made another woman and her children feel more at home here than his own wife and son.”

Her face became pale.

Ha Dinh Chau immediately interrupted.

“Kieu Tinh Dao.”

“Don’t involve the children.”

I looked at him.

A strange feeling suddenly appeared.

It was not anger anymore.

It was disappointment.

Because even now…

He still protected her first.

“Ha Dinh Chau.”

“Do you remember when Du An had a fever at night?”

His expression froze.

“I stayed awake with him until morning.”

“Because you said you had an important meeting.”

“When I asked you to come home, you told me that a child shouldn’t be too dependent on his mother.”

I laughed softly.

“But today, when Lam Man’s children are afraid, you let them take my bedroom.”

“Take my son’s room.”

“Take my studio.”

My eyes fell on the pink decorations around the rooftop.

“Tell me.”

“Who is the one who depends on others too much?”

His lips moved.

But no answer came.

At that moment, my phone rang.

It was the school.

I answered.

The teacher’s worried voice came through.

“Mrs. Ha, we wanted to confirm something.”

“Ha Du An’s transfer application…”

I froze.

“Transfer?”

The teacher continued.

“Yes. The new school contacted us yesterday. They said the child’s guardian requested a transfer.”

My hand tightened around the phone.

I looked at Ha Dinh Chau.

“Did you transfer my son?”

His expression changed slightly.

“I was only considering a better school.”

“Without telling me?”

“You were taking care of your mother.”

“So you thought I didn’t need to know?”

The rooftop became silent again.

The teacher was still waiting on the phone.

I hung up.

For seven years, Ha Dinh Chau always told me:

“You are Du An’s mother. Nobody can replace you.”

But now…

Every decision about my son was made without me.

I turned toward him.

“Ha Dinh Chau.”

“Do you still remember that Du An is my son too?”

His face finally changed.

Not anger.

Not impatience.

Fear.

Because he realized something.

I wasn’t fighting anymore.

I wasn’t asking him to explain.

I was preparing to leave.

He stepped closer.

“Tinh Dao.”

“Let’s talk calmly.”

“I admit I made mistakes.”

“But don’t destroy our family because of this.”

Our family.

Those words sounded ironic.

I picked up the suitcase that was still beside the door.

“This family was destroyed long before I came back.”

He grabbed my wrist.

“Kieu Tinh Dao.”

“Where are you taking Du An?”

I looked at his hand.

Then slowly pulled away.

“To a place where he won’t feel like an outsider.”

His expression turned pale.

At that moment, my phone received a message.

The lawyer.

“The divorce agreement has been revised according to your instructions.”

“All assets acquired during marriage have been divided.”

“There is one thing Mr. Ha may not know.”

“The villa was purchased with funds from your personal account before marriage.”

I looked at the message.

Then looked back at Ha Dinh Chau.

Seven years ago.

When he bought this house.

Everyone thought it was the Ha family’s property.

Even he thought so.

But nobody knew…

The money that saved the Ha family during its crisis came from me.

The woman he thought had nothing.

The woman who was now being pushed out of her own home.

I put the phone away.

“Ha Dinh Chau.”

“Tomorrow morning, I will send you something.”

He frowned.

“What?”

I smiled faintly.

“The truth about this house.”

His face changed.

For the first time…

Ha Dinh Chau looked at me like he was seeing a stranger.

And I knew.

Tomorrow, when he opened that document…

he would finally understand one thing.

The woman he thought could leave with nothing…

was the reason he had everything.
