PART 2: THE DNA REPORT CHANGED EVERYTHING

I looked directly into Co Du Chau’s cold eyes.

“Neither.”

His eyebrows moved slightly.

I placed the baby carefully on the sofa.

“I don’t want your money. I don’t want to become Mrs. Co.”

“I just want you to confirm whether this child is yours.”

For the first time, his expression changed.

“Who is the mother?”

“Hua Thanh.”

His eyes suddenly darkened.

He clearly knew that name.

That was enough.

I took the documents from my backpack and placed them on the table.

“She gave birth, left the baby with my family, and immediately went abroad.”

“My parents wanted me to quit school and pretend the child was mine.”

“So I brought the baby to his father.”

Co Du Chau stared at me.

“You’re her sister?”

“Yes.”

“And you’re willing to hand the child over so easily?”

I almost laughed.

“Easily?”

“I spent eighteen years being told my sister’s future mattered more than mine.”

“This time, I refuse to sacrifice my life for her decision.”

The office became silent.

Then Co Du Chau pressed the intercom.

“Call Doctor Han.”

“Prepare a paternity test.”

“And investigate Hua Thanh’s departure immediately.”

Thirty minutes later, the samples had been taken.

I thought my job was finished.

I picked up my backpack.

“I’ll leave when the result comes.”

But Co Du Chau suddenly asked:

“Where will you go?”

I stopped.

“Back to school.”

“With what money?”

My fingers tightened around the strap.

“That’s my problem.”

He studied me for several seconds.

Then his assistant rushed inside.

“President Co, we found something.”

He placed a tablet on the desk.

“Hua Thanh didn’t leave the country alone.”

My heart tightened.

The screen showed airport surveillance footage.

My sister walked through the VIP passage carrying an expensive handbag.

Beside her was a middle-aged woman.

Co Du Chau’s expression instantly turned terrifying.

“You recognize her?” I asked.

He didn’t answer.

His assistant did.

“That is President Co’s aunt.”

I froze.

Why would someone from the Co family personally escort my sister abroad?

Before I could ask, Doctor Han returned with the preliminary test.

He handed the document to Co Du Chau.

“President Co…”

“The probability of biological paternity exceeds 99.99%.”

Silence.

I finally breathed out.

The child had found his father.

I turned toward the door.

“Then there’s nothing left for me here.”

“Wait.”

Co Du Chau’s voice stopped me.

He was no longer looking at the DNA report.

He was looking at another document his assistant had just delivered.

His face became colder with every line.

“What now?”

He slowly raised his eyes.

“Your sister received twenty million yuan three days before leaving.”

My blood ran cold.

“From whom?”

“My aunt.”

I stared at him.

Then his assistant added quietly:

“There’s more.”

He placed another photograph on the table.

It showed my mother meeting the same woman outside a private bank.

The date was two months before the baby was born.

My mind went blank.

My mother knew?

Co Du Chau pushed the photograph toward me.

“It seems your family didn’t simply ask you to raise this child.”

His voice dropped.

“They were paid to make you become his mother.”

I stared at the photograph, unable to speak.

Then my phone rang.

Mom.

I answered.

Before I could say anything, she screamed:

“Tieu Niem! Where did you take the baby?!”

I looked at Co Du Chau.

He silently activated the recorder on his phone.

I swallowed.

“To his biological father.”

There was dead silence.

Then my mother whispered something that made everyone in the office look at me.

“You idiot…”

“If Co Du Chau discovers why that child was really born, none of us will survive this.”
