PART 2: THE THREE CHILDREN WHO RETURNED TO TAKE EVERYTHING FROM HIM

Five years ago, Julián Dupont thought he had bought his freedom with five million euros.

He believed he had erased me from his life with a signature.

He believed Barbara Chevalier was the woman he had been waiting for all those years.

And he believed I would spend the rest of my life regretting the day I walked out of that penthouse.

But when he saw me standing in the executive terminal of Madrid’s airport, surrounded by three children who carried his blood and my determination, the confidence in his eyes disappeared.

—Camila… —he repeated, barely able to breathe.

I watched him carefully.

The man in front of me looked older.

Not physically.

His suit was still perfect. His posture was still arrogant. His expensive watch still shined under the airport lights.

But something had changed.

The certainty was gone.

Because for the first time in five years, Julián Dupont was facing something he could not buy.

The truth.

My oldest son closed the folder in his small hands and looked at him calmly.

—Mr. Dupont, the meeting has already started. Your presence is no longer required.

A silence fell over the terminal.

Several executives behind Julián exchanged confused looks.

They knew my name.

They knew the mysterious investment group that had suddenly acquired a controlling share of Dupont Real Estate Holdings.

But they didn’t know the president of the fund was the woman Julián had abandoned.

And they definitely didn’t know that the three children standing beside me were the reason I had disappeared.

Julián looked at my son.

Then at the other two children.

His eyes moved between their faces, searching for an explanation that his mind refused to accept.

The little girl, with my confidence and his unmistakable eyes, stepped closer.

—Mom says we should always be polite during business meetings.

She tilted her head slightly.

—So hello, Mr. Dupont.

That sentence destroyed whatever remained of his composure.

Because he understood.

Not completely.

Not yet.

But enough.

His lips parted.

—Camila…

I raised my hand gently.

—Don’t.

My voice was calm.

Five years ago, I would have cried saying his name.

Five years ago, I would have begged him to understand what he was losing.

Today, I didn’t need him to understand.

I had already built a life without him.

—You don’t get to say my name like you still have a place in my world.

His face tightened.

For a moment, I saw the man I had married.

The man who used to bring me coffee in bed.

The man who promised me forever.

Then I remembered the same man handing me divorce papers while another woman waited for him.

—You knew? —he finally whispered.

I smiled faintly.

—Knew what?

His eyes dropped toward the children.

The question he couldn’t say was obvious.

Were they mine?

Were they yours?

Were they the family you never knew existed?

I let the silence answer for me.

Behind him, Barbara Chevalier suddenly stepped forward.

She looked completely different from the elegant woman who had entered my marriage five years earlier.

Her perfect expression was gone.

—Julián, we need to leave. The investors are waiting.

But he didn’t move.

His attention remained fixed on the children.

Especially the oldest boy.

The same boy who had just told him his company was no longer his.

—What are their names? —Julián asked.

I looked at my children.

Then back at him.

—Why?

His expression cracked.

—Because I deserve to know.

I almost laughed.

Deserve.

That word sounded strange coming from him.

—You gave up the right to ask questions the night you signed those papers.

His jaw tightened.

—Camila, I didn’t know.

And there it was.

The sentence every abandoned person hears eventually.

I didn’t know.

But ignorance was not innocence.

Not anymore.

I stepped closer, lowering my voice so only he could hear.

—You didn’t know because you never wanted to look closely enough.

His face turned pale.

The airport noise seemed to disappear around us.

Then one of his assistants suddenly rushed toward him holding a tablet.

—Mr. Dupont… we have a problem.

Julián didn’t respond.

The assistant swallowed nervously.

—The board meeting has started. The new president has arrived.

His eyes moved toward me.

Everyone already knew.

Everyone except him.

I adjusted my sunglasses and took my children’s hands.

—Come on. We have an empire to run.

As we walked away, I heard Julián’s voice behind me.

Not angry.

Not arrogant.

For the first time in years…

Afraid.

—Camila, wait.

I stopped.

But I didn’t turn around.

Because I already knew what he was going to ask.

The question that would change everything.

The question he should have asked five years ago.

—Are they really my children?

I closed my eyes for one second.

Then I smiled.

Because after five years of silence, Julián Dupont was finally ready to hear the truth.

But the truth was not going to set him free.

It was going to destroy the world he had chosen over us.
