PART 2: THE HOUSE THAT LUCA NEVER OWNED.

Luca stared at me like I had just spoken a language he didn’t understand.

“What did you say?”

I placed the document back on the table and looked directly at him.

“I said this villa has never belonged to Vance Capital Development. Not even for one day.”

For the first time that night, Luca’s confidence cracked.

Chloe noticed it immediately.

Her smile faded as she looked between us. “Luca?”

He ignored her.

“Jessi, don’t do this.”

That sentence almost made me laugh.

Not because it was funny.

Because after fourteen years, I finally understood something about Luca Vance.

He was never afraid of losing me.

He was afraid of losing control.

I walked toward the bookshelf and removed a small wooden box hidden behind a row of design books.

Chloe watched curiously.

“What is that?”

I opened it and pulled out a set of documents.

“The original ownership records.”

Luca’s face changed.

“You had no right to access those.”

I looked at him calmly.

“My name is on them.”

Silence filled the room.

The rain continued hitting the massive windows behind us, but suddenly the villa felt much colder.

I placed the documents beside his settlement papers.

“The Lake Norman villa was purchased through a private trust established before our marriage. The trust belongs to me.”

Chloe blinked.

“But Luca said…”

“I know what Luca said.”

I turned toward my husband.

“He told you many things, didn’t he?”

Luca stepped forward.

“You’re twisting this.”

“No. I’m finally telling the truth.”

For years, Luca had allowed everyone to believe that Vance Capital owned everything.

The buildings.

The communities.

The investments.

Even this house.

But there was one thing he never expected.

That I had protected myself before I married him.

Because I knew Luca.

I knew his ambition.

I knew how easily he could turn love into a business arrangement.

What he didn’t know was that while he was building his public empire, I was quietly building my own safety net.

Chloe picked up one of the documents.

Her fingers started shaking.

“Why does your name appear everywhere?”

I looked at her.

“Because I paid for it.”

Her expression changed.

“What?”

I walked back to the table.

“The first three years of Vance Capital were funded by my investments. The first major development deal came from my private accounts. The investors trusted Luca because he was the face.”

I looked at my husband.

“But I was the foundation.”

Luca’s jaw tightened.

“You’re making yourself sound like some victim.”

“No.”

I smiled slightly.

“I’m making myself sound like someone who finally stopped letting you rewrite history.”

The room went silent.

Then Luca reached for the documents.

I moved them away.

“No.”

His eyes narrowed.

“You’re really going to fight me?”

“I’m not fighting you, Luca.”

I looked toward the hidden camera in the bookshelf.

“I’m documenting you.”

His expression froze.

Chloe slowly turned toward the camera.

“You recorded us?”

“Yes.”

Luca’s voice dropped.

“You wouldn’t.”

“I already did.”

The confidence he walked in with disappeared completely.

Because Luca understood something important.

Everything he had said tonight was recorded.

The threats.

The pressure.

The false ownership claims.

The attempt to force me into signing away my rights.

But I wasn’t finished.

I reached into my purse and placed another envelope on the table.

Luca stared at it.

“What is that?”

“Something you should have seen before bringing her here.”

He opened it slowly.

Inside was a photograph.

His expression changed the moment he saw it.

Because the person in the photograph was not a stranger.

It was Chloe’s husband.

Daniel Ruiz.

And behind him was a folder containing financial records.

Chloe’s face went pale.

“Why do you have that?”

I looked at her.

“Because you weren’t the only person hiding something.”

Luca looked confused.

“What are you talking about?”

I leaned against the table.

“For eleven months, you thought you were having a secret affair.”

I paused.

“But secrets work both ways.”

Chloe stepped backward.

“No…”

“Yes.”

I looked at Luca.

“Did she tell you she was already married when you met her?”

The silence that followed was louder than any argument.

Luca slowly turned toward Chloe.

“Married?”

Her lips parted, but no words came out.

And then the front door opened.

Everyone froze.

A man stepped inside, carrying a black umbrella and a folder in his hand.

Daniel Ruiz.

Chloe’s husband.

But he wasn’t alone.

Behind him stood another person.

Someone Luca recognized immediately.

Someone who made his entire face lose color.

The founder of the investment group that controlled the majority of Vance Capital’s future projects.

The man looked around the villa, then at Luca.

“Interesting choice of location for your little betrayal.”

Luca swallowed.

“How are you here?”

The man smiled coldly.

“Because Jessi called us before you arrived.”

I watched Luca finally understand.

This was never about a divorce.

It was never about making me leave my own home.

It was about exposing everything he had been hiding.

And the worst part for Luca?

He still had no idea how much I already knew.

Because the documents Daniel carried weren’t about Chloe.

They were about Luca.

And they were enough to destroy the empire he spent fourteen years pretending he built alone.
