PART 2: THE TRUTH THAT DESTROYED THE COLEMAN FAMILY’S DREAM.

The ultrasound room became completely silent.

David’s confident smile disappeared.

A few seconds earlier, he had been standing there like a victorious man.

The husband who had finally gotten everything he wanted.

The mistress.

The son he believed would continue his family name.

The future he thought he had built after abandoning me and our two children.

But now, even he could feel something was wrong.

“Doctor?” David asked again.

His voice was less confident.

“Is my son okay?”

Dr. Aris slowly put down the ultrasound device.

He looked at the screen one more time.

Then he looked at Allison.

“Mrs. Moore, I need to ask you a few questions.”

Allison’s face changed.

“Questions?”

“Yes.”

The doctor picked up the medical file.

“When was your last pregnancy checkup?”

She hesitated.

“About two weeks ago.”

“And did you provide your complete medical history?”

“Yes.”

The doctor’s expression became serious.

“Are you certain?”

The room went quiet.

David immediately stepped forward.

“Doctor, what are you implying?”

Dr. Aris didn’t answer him.

Instead, he turned the monitor slightly.

“Mr. Coleman, before we discuss anything else, I need you to understand something.”

David’s smile returned slightly.

“Of course. We just want to know if the baby is healthy.”

The doctor looked directly at him.

“The baby appears healthy.”

David immediately relaxed.

“See? I knew it.”

But the doctor continued.

“However…”

That one word changed everything.

“However, there is something unusual.”

The entire family froze.

Megan, who had been standing proudly outside the room, entered.

“What do you mean unusual?”

Dr. Aris folded his hands.

“According to the information provided, this pregnancy does not match the timeline you were given.”

Allison’s face went pale.

“What are you saying?”

The doctor looked at her.

“I’m saying the estimated conception date does not align with the date you claimed.”

David frowned.

“I don’t understand.”

Dr. Aris took a breath.

“The pregnancy is not as far along as you told Mr. Coleman.”

Silence.

Absolute silence.

David stared at Allison.

“What?”

Allison immediately shook her head.

“No, that’s impossible.”

The doctor remained calm.

“Medical calculations are not based on assumptions.”

David’s expression slowly changed.

Because suddenly, he remembered.

The day Allison told him she was pregnant.

The day she cried in his arms and said she finally carried the child he always wanted.

The day he looked at me and decided our marriage no longer mattered.

The day he announced to his family that the Coleman bloodline would finally have an heir.

But now…

Something didn’t add up.

Megan stepped forward.

“Doctor, are you saying the child is not David’s?”

The doctor didn’t answer directly.

“I am saying a paternity test is recommended before making any decisions.”

The room exploded.

“What?”

David’s mother covered her mouth.

His father’s expression turned dark.

All seven members of the Coleman family who had arrived expecting a celebration were suddenly standing in a room filled with doubt.

Allison started crying.

“David, you believe me, right?”

But David didn’t immediately answer.

And that hesitation hurt her more than any accusation.

Because for months, she had been the woman he chose.

The woman he defended.

The woman he promised would give him the future I supposedly couldn’t.

But now, he was looking at her differently.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, I sat beside the airplane window.

My two children were asleep beside me.

For the first time in years, I felt peaceful.

My phone kept vibrating.

Messages from David.

Calls from his family.

I didn’t answer any of them.

Because I already knew.

The same people who laughed when I signed the divorce papers were now desperate for answers.

But I had no interest in watching their world collapse.

I had spent years holding that family together.

Now, they could experience what happened when I stopped.

My daughter opened her eyes slightly.

“Mommy… are we going home?”

I smiled and held her hand.

“Yes.”

She looked confused.

“But Daddy’s house?”

I looked out at the clouds.

“No, sweetheart.”

A pause.

“We’re going to our real home.”

She smiled and went back to sleep.

I looked at the ring still sitting inside my bag.

The ring David gave me when he promised forever.

The same man who walked away the moment someone else promised him a son.

I took it out.

Then I placed it inside the envelope containing the divorce papers.

That chapter was finished.

Back at the clinic, David finally received the message he feared.

The paternity test could be done immediately.

But before he agreed, Dr. Aris handed him another document.

“This was found in the patient’s previous medical records.”

David looked down.

His hands started shaking.

Because the document wasn’t about the baby.

It was about Allison.

And the date written at the top was impossible.

The same date that proved she had been hiding something long before she ever entered David’s life.

And for the first time…

David realized the woman he destroyed his marriage for might have never loved him at all.
