PART 2: THE CAMERA THAT REVEALED SARAH’S REAL PLAN.

Marcus stood there for several seconds, unable to move.

The name Julian kept repeating in his mind.

Not because he knew the man.

Because he didn’t.

And that was what terrified him.

He looked at Lily and forced his voice to remain calm.

“Sweetheart, when does Julian come here?”

Lily lowered her eyes.

“Usually when you’re gone.”

The words hit harder than any accusation.

Marcus had spent the last ten months believing he had finally built a safe home for his daughter after losing Hannah.

He thought Sarah was the person who helped them heal.

But now he was wondering if she had only been waiting for the right moment.

The taxi driver called.

“Mr. Vance, I’m outside.”

Marcus looked at his suitcase.

Then at Lily.

Then toward the kitchen.

Sarah was still standing there holding the glass of juice.

Smiling.

A normal smile.

The kind someone wears when they think they have already won.

Marcus picked up his suitcase.

“I’m leaving.”

Sarah relaxed.

“Have a safe trip.”

Marcus nodded.

“I will.”

But instead of walking toward the taxi, he carried the suitcase outside, placed it in the trunk, and watched the car disappear down the street.

Then he waited.

Five minutes.

Ten minutes.

When he was sure Sarah believed he was gone, Marcus walked around the back of the house.

He entered through the garage door.

Quietly.

The first thing he did was check the security system.

He had installed cameras after Hannah’s illness because he wanted to monitor Lily’s safety when babysitters came over.

But six months earlier, Sarah had complained.

She said the cameras made the house feel like a prison.

So Marcus removed several of them.

At least, he thought he had.

There was one backup camera hidden in the garage.

One device Sarah didn’t know existed.

Marcus opened the application.

And what he saw made his hands go cold.

The recording from the previous week started.

Sarah was in the kitchen.

Julian was sitting across from her.

Marcus leaned closer to the screen.

Julian wasn’t a stranger.

He was the man who handled paperwork for Hannah’s family estate.

The same man Marcus trusted to manage documents related to the beach house Hannah had left for Lily.

Sarah poured herself wine.

“We need more proof,” Julian said.

“She’s only six,” Sarah replied.

“She doesn’t have to understand. She just has to look unstable.”

Marcus felt his stomach twist.

Julian opened a folder.

Inside were printed screenshots.

Videos.

Notes.

Sarah’s plan was suddenly clear.

She wasn’t trying to show Marcus that Lily was difficult.

She was creating evidence to make him believe it.

The juice.

The recordings.

The strange behavior.

Everything was manufactured.

Then Sarah said something that made Marcus stop breathing.

“Once Marcus thinks Lily is impossible to handle, he’ll agree that I should become her legal guardian.”

Julian smiled.

“And the beach house?”

Sarah looked at the documents.

“Lily inherits it. But if I control Lily, I control everything connected to her.”

Marcus stared at the screen.

His daughter wasn’t the target.

She was the key.

They weren’t trying to remove a difficult child.

They were trying to gain access to the inheritance Hannah had protected for their daughter.

Marcus immediately copied every recording.

Every message.

Every document.

Then he walked upstairs.

Sarah was sitting on the couch when she saw him.

Her face changed instantly.

“Marcus?”

He placed his phone on the table.

The recording was still playing.

Sarah’s expression turned pale.

For the first time, the confident woman who always had an explanation had nothing to say.

“Why did you come back?”

Marcus looked at her.

“Because my daughter asked me not to leave.”

Sarah stood up quickly.

“Marcus, you’re misunderstanding—”

“No.”

His voice was quiet.

And that scared her more than anger.

“I finally understand everything.”

Lily appeared at the hallway.

Marcus immediately walked toward her and held her hand.

Sarah watched them.

Then her phone rang.

She looked at the screen.

Julian.

She rejected the call.

But Marcus saw the message that appeared seconds later.

“Did you get him to sign the papers?”

Marcus took a screenshot.

And Sarah realized her biggest mistake.

She had spent months trying to create evidence against his daughter.

But in the end…

She had created all the evidence Marcus needed against her.

However, when Marcus contacted Hannah’s lawyer the next morning, he discovered something even more shocking.

The beach house was not the only thing Sarah and Julian were after.

There was another inheritance Hannah had hidden from everyone.

And Sarah was willing to destroy an entire family to get it.
