PART 2: THE SEAT NEXT TO HIM WAS NEVER A COINCIDENCE.

Julian froze the moment he saw me standing beside Row 7.

For three seconds, neither of us moved.

The smile that had been on his face all morning disappeared completely. His fingers tightened around the tablet in his hands, and the confident husband who had kissed my forehead before leaving Boston suddenly looked like a man who had been caught in a trap he never saw coming.

“Elena…”

My name came out almost as a whisper.

I looked at him calmly, then glanced at the woman sitting beside the window.

Chloe.

She was exactly like the photos.

The expensive handbag. The perfect makeup. The confident expression of someone who believed she had already won.

She looked between Julian and me, confused.

“Julian… who is she?”

I placed my suitcase in the overhead compartment and smiled politely.

“I’m Elena. His wife.”

The color drained from Chloe’s face.

Julian immediately stood up.

“Wait, Elena. This isn’t what you think.”

I almost laughed.

After twelve years of marriage, I had heard that sentence too many times.

It was always the same.

A lie was discovered.

A person panicked.

Then came the explanation.

But this time, I wasn’t the woman begging for honesty.

I wasn’t the wife crying in the kitchen wondering why her husband suddenly worked late every night.

I was the woman who already knew everything.

I sat down in seat 7C and fastened my seatbelt.

“Relax, Julian,” I said quietly. “I’m not here to make a scene.”

That made him even more nervous.

Because he knew me.

He knew I never made emotional decisions.

When I was angry, I became quieter.

And when I became quiet, people usually regretted what they had done.

The flight attendant announced that boarding was almost complete. Julian remained standing in the aisle, ignoring the uncomfortable looks from other passengers.

“Can we talk privately?”

“No.”

My answer was immediate.

His face changed.

“Please.”

I looked at him.

“You had six months to talk to me.”

Silence.

Chloe looked away.

Julian swallowed.

“You followed me?”

I shook my head.

“No. I bought a ticket.”

The simplicity of my answer seemed to scare him more than anger would have.

Because he realized something important.

I wasn’t chasing him.

I was moving ahead of him.

The plane took off twenty minutes later.

Julian barely touched his drink.

He kept looking toward me, trying to understand what I knew and how much damage had already been done.

He had no idea that while he was booking romantic trips to Miami, I had been uncovering every hidden piece of his life.

And the biggest discovery wasn’t Chloe.

It was the money.

Three weeks earlier, I had noticed unusual transfers from our joint investment account.

At first, I thought it was a business mistake.

Then I found the pattern.

Julian had been moving money into a private company account connected to a new real estate project.

A company where his name was hidden behind another director.

A company that had been created seven months earlier.

Exactly when his affair began.

He thought he was protecting himself.

He thought if our marriage ended, he would walk away with half of everything.

But he forgot one thing.

I built the financial foundation of our family.

The house.

The investments.

The design company that paid for our lifestyle.

Julian had the confidence of a rich man.

But he had forgotten who created the wealth.

Before boarding this flight, I had already sent all the documents to my attorney.

Every transfer.

Every account.

Every suspicious transaction.

Everything.

The lawyer’s message had arrived just twenty minutes before I stepped onto the plane.

“Your husband appears to have moved marital assets without disclosure. We need to act quickly.”

Julian thought this trip was the beginning of his new life.

He didn’t realize it was the beginning of losing his old one.

When we landed in Miami, Chloe immediately grabbed Julian’s arm.

She looked uncomfortable.

“Julian, you said your marriage was already finished.”

I watched his expression carefully.

That sentence revealed everything.

He had been telling her a story.

The same story he had probably told every person he wanted something from.

Julian noticed my expression and lowered his voice.

“Elena, please. Let me explain.”

I picked up my luggage.

“No need.”

He looked shocked.

“What do you mean?”

I turned toward him.

“The person you need to explain yourself to isn’t me anymore.”

His eyebrows tightened.

“What does that mean?”

I smiled slightly.

“It means your lawyer will probably call you before dinner.”

For the first time since I entered the plane, Julian looked genuinely afraid.

Because he finally understood.

The woman sitting in 7C wasn’t there to fight for her marriage.

She was there because she already knew how to end it.

And as he watched me walk away through the airport, his phone suddenly rang.

He looked at the screen.

Then his face went completely pale.

Because the caller was the one person he never expected to hear from.

His own attorney.
