PART 2: THE SON WHO EXPOSED HIS FATHER’S LIES

The room remained frozen.

Nobody moved.

Nobody dared to speak.

Because the image everyone had just seen was not a rumor.

Not an accusation.

Not a jealous wife’s revenge.

It was evidence.

Richard Lancaster stood in the middle of his mother’s birthday celebration, surrounded by relatives and business partners who had spent years believing he was a perfect family man.

Now they were all looking at him differently.

His face was pale.

“Where did you get this?”

His voice was low.

Almost threatening.

Daniel looked at him from the stage.

For the first time, my son didn’t look like a child afraid of his father.

He looked like someone who had finally stopped being afraid.

“Does it matter?”

Richard’s jaw tightened.

“Answer me.”

Daniel held the microphone firmly.

“It matters more that everything is true.”

A wave of whispers spread through the room.

Vanessa stepped forward.

“This is ridiculous. A child doesn’t understand adult problems.”

She tried to smile.

“Someone must have manipulated him.”

I looked at her.

And for the first time, I saw fear behind her confidence.

Because she knew.

The evidence wasn’t only from Daniel.

It was from Richard’s own actions.

My son didn’t create his father’s betrayal.

He simply revealed it.

Richard turned toward me.

“You knew?”

His voice carried anger.

“You knew and you let him do this?”

I almost laughed.

The irony was unbelievable.

He was angry because he had been exposed.

Not because he had hurt us.

“No, Richard.”

I looked at him calmly.

“I didn’t know everything.”

“But I knew enough.”

His expression changed.

“What does that mean?”

“It means I knew my husband stopped loving me long ago.”

“I knew he stopped respecting me.”

“I knew he had already chosen another life.”

I paused.

“But I didn’t know he was also planning to destroy his own son.”

That sentence hit him harder than anything else.

Because Richard could ignore me.

He could replace me.

But hearing that he had abandoned Daniel in everyone’s eyes was different.

My mother-in-law, Eleanor, slowly stood up.

Everyone expected her to defend Richard.

After all, he was her son.

Instead, she looked at the screen again.

The transfers.

The messages.

The plans.

Her face became unreadable.

“Richard.”

Her voice trembled.

“What is this?”

Richard immediately approached her.

“Mom, let me explain.”

“Explain what?”

She looked at him.

“That you used your wife?”

“That you planned everything behind my back?”

“That you brought another woman’s child here to humiliate Claire?”

Richard opened his mouth.

But no words came.

Because the entire room had already seen the truth.

Then Daniel walked down from the stage.

He came toward me.

For a second, I saw the little boy who used to hold my hand when he was scared.

The boy who had silently watched his father disappear.

“I’m sorry, Mom.”

My heart broke.

I knelt down.

“Why are you apologizing?”

His eyes became red.

“Because I knew.”

I froze.

“Knew what?”

He looked down.

“I knew Dad didn’t love us anymore.”

A silence fell.

“I heard him talking with Grandma months ago.”

My breathing stopped.

“What did you hear?”

Daniel swallowed.

“He said after the birthday party, you would leave.”

“He said nobody would believe you because everyone would think you were just angry.”

My hands trembled.

Richard had planned everything.

Not just a divorce.

A public destruction.

He wanted to make me look like the abandoned wife.

The unreasonable woman.

The person who had no place left.

But he forgot one thing.

He forgot that his own son was watching.

Daniel held my hand.

“I didn’t know how to stop him.”

I hugged him.

“You don’t have to stop everything, sweetheart.”

“You just have to tell the truth.”

Behind us, Richard suddenly spoke.

“Daniel.”

Everyone looked at him.

His voice had changed.

No longer angry.

Almost desperate.

“Come here.”

My son didn’t move.

Richard looked hurt.

“You are my son.”

Daniel stared at him.

“A father doesn’t erase his son to create a new family.”

The words silenced the room.

Even Richard had no answer.

Then the doors opened.

Two people entered.

My lawyer.

And the Lancaster Group’s internal audit director.

Richard’s expression changed completely.

“You…”

My lawyer placed a folder on the table.

“Mr. Lancaster.”

“Following the evidence submitted today, the board has initiated an emergency review.”

The audit director continued:

“Several financial irregularities have been discovered.”

“Unauthorized transfers.”

“Misuse of company resources.”

“And attempts to conceal personal transactions.”

Richard stepped back.

“No.”

His voice became louder.

“This is my company.”

The director looked at him calmly.

“Not anymore.”

Eleanor closed her eyes.

For decades, she had protected the Lancaster name.

But now she understood.

The biggest threat to the family was not an outsider.

It was her own son.

Richard looked at me.

And for the first time…

I saw regret.

Not because he lost me.

But because he finally understood what he had thrown away.

“Claire…”

I shook my head.

“Don’t.”

He stopped.

“You had ten years to choose us.”

“You chose them.”

I looked at Daniel.

“And today, we choose ourselves.”

That night, the Lancaster family celebration ended in silence.

The birthday candles were never blown out.

The cake remained untouched.

The perfect family image Richard created collapsed in front of everyone.

But the biggest surprise was still waiting.

Because when the audit team finished reviewing Richard’s hidden accounts, they discovered something even he didn’t know.

The money he transferred away…

was not the only secret he had hidden.

There was another name connected to those accounts.

A person inside the Lancaster family.

Someone who had helped Richard plan everything from the beginning.

And when that person was revealed…

Richard would realize that the betrayal he feared from outside had been beside him all along.
