PART 2: Luca Returned Home And Discovered The House Was Already Gone

Luca came back from Miami three days later with a smile I had not seen in months.

A victorious smile.

The kind of smile a man wears when he believes the hardest battle of his life has already been won.

He stepped through the front gate of Redwood Crest Drive carrying expensive luggage, followed by Wendy and Stephanie laughing behind him.

“I still can’t believe this place is finally becoming a real family home,” Wendy said.

Stephanie looked around the mansion.

“Mom, we should redo the guest rooms. The current design feels too much like Jessi’s taste.”

Luca didn’t correct her.

That was the moment I realized something.

They weren’t waiting for me to forgive them.

They had already erased me.

They believed I was gone.

They believed the house belonged to them.

But what they didn’t know…

Was that seventy-two hours earlier, every document had already been signed.

At the same time, Phoebe Reed sat across from the buyer in a private office.

The contract was simple.

The property.

The land.

The custom furniture.

Everything.

Sold.

The buyer didn’t hesitate.

“Mrs. Carter, are you certain?”

Phoebe looked at the signature at the bottom of the page.

“More certain than I have ever been.”

That evening, Luca finally entered the mansion.

He typed the new security code he had created himself.

The screen flashed.

ACCESS DENIED.

His smile disappeared.

He tried again.

Nothing.

“Impossible.”

He called the security company.

A few seconds later, the technician answered.

“Mr. Whitmore?”

“Yes. My wife changed the system.”

There was silence.

Then the technician said:

“Sir… you are not listed as the property owner.”

Luca froze.

“What?”

“The ownership information was updated this morning.”

His face slowly changed.

“Updated by who?”

The answer came quietly.

“Mrs. Jessi Whitmore.”

Inside the mansion, Wendy heard him shouting.

“What do you mean she sold it?”

Stephanie rushed downstairs.

“Luca, what happened?”

He stared at the phone.

His fingers trembled.

“She sold the house.”

Wendy laughed.

“That’s impossible.”

“She wouldn’t do that.”

“She just had a baby. She’s emotional.”

But Luca knew.

Because he remembered the conversation three days earlier.

The way I looked at him.

The calmness in my voice.

The absence of tears.

He had mistaken my silence for weakness.

Then his phone received a message.

From me.

Only one sentence.

The house you locked me out of was never yours.

A second message arrived.

Attached was a copy of the sale agreement.

Luca opened it.

His expression turned pale.

Because at the bottom of the document was not only my signature.

There was another clause.

One he had forgotten.

The prenuptial agreement.

The one he had laughed at before our wedding.

The one he thought was meaningless.

Any attempt to claim ownership of personal assets belonging to Jessi Whitmore would result in immediate termination of all financial privileges provided during marriage.

His bank accounts.

His company shares.

His luxury car.

The lifestyle he had built around my wealth.

Everything.

Luca called me immediately.

I watched his name appear on my screen.

For the first time in years…

I did not feel nervous.

I answered.

“Jessi.”

His voice was completely different.

No arrogance.

No victory.

Only panic.

“What did you do?”

I looked at Lily sleeping peacefully beside me.

Then I smiled.

“I protected my daughter.”

“You sold our home!”

I corrected him calmly.

“No.”

“I sold my house.”

Silence.

Then Luca whispered:

“You can’t do this to me.”

I looked out the window at the rain.

“Luca.”

“You did not lose your home three days after my daughter was born.”

“You lost it the moment you decided I was someone you could lock outside.”

The call went quiet.

But before I ended it…

I heard Wendy shouting in the background.

“Luca, ask her about the inheritance!”

My expression changed.

Inheritance?

I slowly sat up.

Because there was something in Wendy’s voice.

Something desperate.

Something that told me…

The house was never their only plan.

And when Phoebe sent me the next file five minutes later…

I finally understood why Luca had rushed to Miami with his mother.

They weren’t celebrating.

They were hiding.

And the document inside that file would prove that my husband had planned to take far more from me than just my home.
