PART 2: The Truth Behind Seven Years Of Silence

Seven years.

That was how long I had stayed away from this place.

Seven years since I quietly changed the bride’s name on the wedding documents.

Seven years since I left without asking for an explanation.

Everyone thought I had lost.

They thought I had escaped because I couldn’t accept being betrayed.

But the truth was different.

I left because I didn’t want to fight for someone who had already chosen someone else.

Especially when that someone was my own sister.

I still remembered that day clearly.

The day before our wedding.

The wedding hall was already decorated.

The invitations had been sent.

My dress was hanging in the bedroom.

Everything was ready.

Except my heart.

When I saw the photo of Giang Tram Uyen and Lam Nhuoc Ninh together, I didn’t scream.

I didn’t cry.

I didn’t confront them.

I simply sat there for a long time.

Then I opened the wedding planner’s contact.

“Change the bride’s name.”

The person on the other end froze.

“Miss… are you sure?”

I looked at the photo again.

“Yes.”

“Change it to Lam Nhuoc Ninh.”

After that, I packed one suitcase.

I left behind the ring.

The wedding dress.

The life I thought I would have.

And I disappeared.

I thought that after seven years, I would no longer feel anything when I saw him.

But when Giang Tram Uyen walked into that gathering wearing his military uniform…

My heart still tightened for a second.

Not because I loved him.

But because I remembered the man he used to be.

The man who once held my hand and promised:

“When I return from this mission, you will be the first person I see.”

The man who once told me:

“I don’t care about anyone else.”

How ironic.

Because the person he cared about was standing right beside him all along.

But now…

Something didn’t make sense.

He wasn’t married.

There was no wedding.

No child.

No family.

Nothing.

The rumors in the room continued.

“Major Giang has waited all these years.”

“He probably still can’t forget his ex-girlfriend.”

“He is too stubborn.”

I quietly lowered my glass.

Ex-girlfriend.

That word sounded strange.

Because the person who abandoned me never once looked back.

At least, that’s what I believed.

After the gathering ended, I didn’t immediately leave.

I stayed in the hotel room and looked through old messages.

Messages from seven years ago.

Messages from before everything collapsed.

I found one from Giang Tram Uyen.

“Wait for me.”

Only four words.

I stared at them.

Then I laughed softly.

Wait?

I had waited.

I waited until the day I discovered that while I was preparing our wedding, he was secretly becoming someone else’s boyfriend.

At that moment, my phone vibrated.

A new message appeared.

From an unknown number.

I opened it.

Only one sentence.

“Are you finally willing to come back?”

My fingers froze.

Because I recognized the writing style immediately.

Giang Tram Uyen.

I didn’t reply.

A second message arrived.

“I know you saw everything.”

I looked at the screen.

My first instinct was anger.

After seven years…

He still thought he had the right to explain?

Then another message appeared.

“I never betrayed you.”

I almost laughed.

Never betrayed me?

Then what was that photo?

What was the ring?

What was my sister?

Before I could respond, another message arrived.

This time it contained a photo.

A document.

I opened it.

And my expression slowly changed.

It was a military investigation report.

The date was from seven years ago.

The exact month when I left.

The content made my hands go cold.

Because it mentioned a classified operation.

A mission that Giang Tram Uyen had never told me about.

And attached to the report was one name.

Lam Nhuoc Ninh.

I stared at that name for a long time.

Then I realized something.

Maybe I had spent seven years hating the wrong person.

Maybe the betrayal I thought I understood…

Was only the surface of something much deeper.

My phone rang.

This time, it was Giang Tram Uyen.

I almost didn’t answer.

But something inside me wanted the truth.

I pressed the button.

For several seconds, neither of us spoke.

Then his voice came through.

Older.

Tired.

But still familiar.

“Yun.”

Only he called me that.

My hand tightened around the phone.

“What do you want?”

There was a long silence.

Then he said:

“I want to apologize.”

I closed my eyes.

“Apologize for what?”

His breathing became heavier.

“For letting you believe I chose her.”

The room went silent.

“Because the truth is…”

His voice lowered.

“Seven years ago, the person I was protecting was not Lam Nhuoc Ninh.”

I froze.

“Then who?”

A few seconds passed.

Then his answer made my entire world turn upside down.

“You.”

And before I could ask anything else…

He said something I never expected.

“Your sister was never my lover.”

“She was the reason I disappeared from your life.”
