PART 2: Hector Xia Lost Everything When He Realized the Woman He Abandoned Was Never Weak

The next morning, when Hector Xia arrived at the company, he still believed everything could be fixed with an apology.

He was used to people forgiving him.

He was used to Valeria being the one who came back first.

But this time, when he entered the boardroom, what was waiting for him was not forgiveness.

It was a thick folder placed in the center of the table.

—What is this?

Valeria’s lawyer calmly replied:

—A request to preserve all marital assets.

—Along with evidence that you used joint funds for personal expenses related to Ms. Emma Tang.

The entire room fell silent.

Hector clenched his fists.

—This is just a misunderstanding between husband and wife.

The lawyer looked at him calmly.

—A marriage can be a family matter.

—But transferring company funds and using shared assets without disclosure is a legal matter.

Only then did Hector understand.

Valeria had not left in anger.

She had left after preparing everything.

She did not cry.

She did not beg.

She did not threaten.

She simply took control of her own life again.

Three days later, Emma Tang came to see Hector.

She still had the same fragile expression she always used.

—Hector, you told me everything would be fine.

He looked at her.

For the first time, he no longer saw the woman who made him feel admired.

He saw the person who had helped him destroy his family.

—Do you know how much Valeria contributed to this company?

Emma stayed silent.

—You never told me.

Hector let out a bitter laugh.

Because the truth was…

he had never wanted to know either.

Valeria never showed off.

She always said:

“You are the one who built this company.”

But the reality was that during the hardest years, when the company was close to collapse, she had used her own assets to help him survive.

She never wanted recognition.

She only wanted him to remember that they were once a family.

But he forgot.

The day Valeria returned to the hospital, she was still uncertain.

Not because of Hector.

But because of the baby.

She sat outside the consultation room for a long time.

The doctor looked at her.

—Are you sure about your decision?

Valeria placed her hand over her belly.

For four months, the child had become a part of her.

A life that had done nothing wrong because of the choices of its father.

She remembered her mother’s words.

“If you want to be a mother, I will stand beside you.”

Finally, she shook her head.

—I want to keep my child.

—But I don’t want to return to that marriage.

That decision left Hector completely stunned.

When he found out, he stood outside Valeria’s mother’s house for hours.

But this time, she did not open the door.

Her phone kept vibrating.

His final message only contained one sentence:

“Valeria, I’m sorry.”

She looked at the screen for a long time.

Then she replied:

“I believe you once loved me.”

“But the man I loved no longer exists.”

One year later.

Valeria gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

She gave him her own last name.

Not because she wanted revenge.

But because she wanted her son to grow up knowing that he was born from the love of a mother who never abandoned him.

And Hector?

He lost almost everything.

The company fell into crisis after investors lost confidence.

Emma left when she realized life with him was nothing like the dream she imagined.

She once thought she would become the woman he chose.

But in the end, she was only standing beside a man who had lost the person who loved him the most.

Years later, Hector met Valeria again.

She was walking through a park with their son.

The sunlight touched her face.

Peaceful.

Strong.

No longer the woman who waited for him every night.

He walked closer.

—Valeria.

She stopped.

She looked at him.

But there was no pain anymore.

Only calmness.

—It’s been a long time.

Hector looked at the child.

—He looks like me.

Valeria smiled slightly.

—No.

—He looks like me.

Because I was the one who stayed with him from the very beginning.

Hector had nothing to say.

He once thought losing Valeria only meant losing a wife.

But in the end, he finally understood.

He had lost the only person who loved him before he became successful.

And some people…

once they decide to leave,

will never return just because someone finally realizes their worth.
