PART 2: THE DAUGHTER THE LANCASTERS LOST

The old man stood in front of me.

His eyes were red.

His hands trembled as he held the folder against his chest.

For a moment, nobody spoke.

I didn’t know who he was.

I didn’t know why a man who looked like he controlled the entire world was looking at me as if I was the most precious thing he had ever seen.

“I’m sorry…”

My voice was low.

“Do I know you?”

The man’s lips trembled.

Then he slowly opened the folder.

Inside were old photographs.

A baby.

A young woman.

A hospital bracelet.

And a document that had already turned yellow with time.

“My name is Richard Lancaster.”

The moment he said that name, the room became silent.

Richard Lancaster.

The head of the Lancaster family.

The man whose name appeared on every major business magazine.

The man who had been searching for his missing daughter for twenty-seven years.

I stared at him.

Impossible.

“I think there must be some misunderstanding.”

I shook my head.

“My name is Emma Collins.”

Richard looked at me with pain in his eyes.

“That was the name given to you after you disappeared.”

“Your real name…”

He paused.

“Is Emma Lancaster.”

My breathing stopped.

Twenty-seven years ago.

The Lancaster family had a newborn daughter.

A little girl who was born with a rare blood type.

A little girl everyone protected.

But one night, during a hospital transfer, she disappeared.

The investigation lasted years.

No clues.

No witnesses.

No trace.

Richard searched everywhere.

He spent decades believing that his daughter was still alive somewhere.

Until today.

Until the hospital system found the genetic match.

Me.

The daughter he lost.

The identity I never knew existed.

I sat silently while Dr. Hale explained everything.

The blood test.

The genetic markers.

The records.

Everything matched.

My hands rested unconsciously on my stomach.

The baby moved slightly.

A small reminder that my life had already changed twice in one week.

First, I lost my husband.

Then I found my family.

Richard looked at my belly.

His expression softened.

“You’re pregnant?”

I nodded.

He closed his eyes.

For a second, I saw something painful in his face.

Not disappointment.

Regret.

“I wasn’t there when you were born.”

“I wasn’t there when you grew up.”

“And now…”

His voice broke.

“I almost missed my daughter’s entire life again.”

I didn’t know what to say.

Because for twenty-seven years, I had also wondered.

Why didn’t my biological parents want me?

Why did they abandon me?

But looking at the old man in front of me…

I suddenly realized.

Maybe I wasn’t abandoned.

Maybe I was stolen from them.

That night, I returned to my small apartment.

But it no longer felt like home.

On the table was the divorce agreement.

Next to it was the pregnancy test.

And beside that…

The documents proving that I was a Lancaster.

My phone suddenly rang.

Adrian.

I stared at his name.

For years, that name had made my heart beat faster.

Now it only made me tired.

I answered.

“What?”

There was silence.

Apparently, he wasn’t expecting that tone.

“Emma.”

“You went to the hospital?”

I frowned.

“How do you know?”

His voice became softer.

“Olivia told me.”

Of course.

Olivia.

Even now, she was still involved.

“Adrian, what do you want?”

Another silence.

Then he said:

“Come back.”

I almost laughed.

“Why?”

“Because we still have a marriage to finish.”

I looked at the divorce papers.

“No.”

His voice changed.

“Emma.”

“Don’t make this difficult.”

Difficult.

Again.

That word.

Every time he hurt me, I was the one making things difficult.

“I found out something today.”

“What?”

“I found my real family.”

Silence.

“My biological family.”

“The Lancaster family.”

The silence on the other side lasted longer.

Then Adrian spoke carefully.

“Emma…”

“Are you saying Richard Lancaster is your father?”

“Yes.”

For the first time, Adrian had no arrogant response.

No order.

No cold explanation.

Only shock.

Because suddenly the woman he had abandoned…

Was no longer the woman he thought he could ignore.

She was the missing daughter of one of the most powerful families in the country.

The next morning, news spread everywhere.

The Lancaster family had announced the return of their only daughter.

The media exploded.

Business circles trembled.

Everyone wanted to know who the mysterious heiress was.

Adrian saw the news while sitting in his office.

His assistant placed the newspaper on the desk.

“Mr. Blake…”

“Miss Collins…”

He stopped.

Because that name was no longer correct.

The headline said:

“Lancaster Heiress Returns After Twenty-Seven Years.”

Below it was my picture.

Adrian stared at it.

The woman he had asked to leave.

The woman he thought had nothing.

The woman Olivia had mocked.

Was the daughter of the Lancaster family.

His expression became complicated.

Then his phone rang.

It was Olivia.

“Adrian.”

Her voice sounded nervous.

“Have you seen the news?”

“Yes.”

A pause.

“What should we do?”

Adrian frowned.

“What do you mean?”

Olivia became quiet.

Then she whispered:

“Because if Emma becomes the official Lancaster heiress…”

“She will discover what happened before the divorce.”

Adrian’s face changed.

“What are you talking about?”

Olivia stopped.

Too late.

Because Adrian had finally noticed.

There was something she was hiding.

Something even more dangerous than losing me.

Something connected to the reason she had returned.

And for the first time…

Adrian Blake realized that the woman he abandoned was not the one who needed him.

He was the one who needed to fear her.
