PART 2: THE SURGEON WHO LEFT

The private jet disappeared into the clouds before Adrian Hale realized what he had lost.

For three years, he believed Elena Morgan would always stay.

No matter how much he hurt her.

No matter how many times he chose Vanessa.

No matter how many times he doubted her.

Because Elena was always there.

She was the woman who waited outside the operating room for him.

The woman who remembered every detail about his grandfather’s medication.

The woman who gave up a position at the world’s top neurosurgery center because she wanted to build a life with him.

He thought love meant someone would never leave.

Until that person finally did.

At the hospital, Adrian sat alone in his office.

The roses he bought that morning were still on the table.

He had imagined Elena looking at them.

Maybe crying.

Maybe forgiving him.

Maybe saying she understood.

That was how it always happened.

But this time…

The divorce papers were real.

And Elena was gone.

His assistant knocked before entering.

—Mr. Hale.

Adrian didn’t raise his head.

—What?

The assistant hesitated.

—The hospital in Switzerland confirmed that Dr. Morgan has accepted the position again.

His fingers stopped moving.

Dr. Morgan.

Not Mrs. Hale.

Not Elena Hale.

Dr. Morgan.

A name that reminded him of who she was before him.

Before this marriage.

Before all the sacrifices.

—When will she return?

The assistant lowered his eyes.

—She won’t.

Adrian looked up.

—What do you mean?

—She requested a permanent research position.

Silence filled the room.

For the first time, Adrian understood something.

Elena wasn’t leaving to punish him.

She wasn’t waiting for him to apologize.

She was leaving because she had finally chosen herself.

Three days later, Adrian’s condition worsened.

The fragment inside his skull became unstable.

The surgery could no longer be delayed.

Doctors from several countries reviewed his case.

One by one, they shook their heads.

Too dangerous.

Too complicated.

Too little chance of success.

Until an older professor spoke.

—There is one person who may be able to do it.

Everyone became silent.

Adrian already knew the answer before hearing the name.

—Dr. Elena Morgan.

The room froze.

A doctor looked at him carefully.

—She is your wife, isn’t she?

Adrian didn’t respond.

Because that sentence hurt more than any diagnosis.

She had been his wife.

But he had treated her like an enemy.

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, Elena stood inside a Swiss hospital.

Her hands were slowly recovering.

The damage was severe.

But not permanent.

The same hands Adrian tried to destroy…

Were healing.

A young doctor entered with a file.

—Dr. Morgan.

She looked up.

—Yes?

The doctor hesitated.

—There is a patient request from overseas.

She didn’t move.

—Who?

The doctor placed the file on the table.

Elena saw the name.

Adrian Hale.

For several seconds, the room was completely quiet.

The man who had broken her hands.

The man who had believed Vanessa over her.

The man who had thrown away the person who saved him.

Now needed those same hands to save his life.

The doctor waited.

—Will you accept?

Elena slowly closed the file.

Her expression remained calm.

But her eyes were no longer the eyes of the woman who loved Adrian.

They belonged to someone who had finally awakened.

—I need to review the medical records first.

The doctor nodded.

But before leaving, he asked:

—If the surgery succeeds, will you go back to him?

Elena looked out at the snowy mountains beyond the window.

After a long silence, she answered:

—A doctor saves lives.

—But that doesn’t mean she has to return to the person who destroyed hers.

At that moment, her phone received a new message.

One sentence.

From Adrian.

“Elena, I was wrong.”

She stared at the screen.

Then another message appeared.

“Please save me.”

Elena put the phone down.

Because for the first time in three years…

Adrian Hale was the one waiting.
