PART 2: THE RETURN OF MISS NAVARRO

Rodrigo Vega arrived home expecting anger.

He expected tears.

He expected Camila to be waiting in the living room, demanding an explanation, asking him why he humiliated her in front of hundreds of guests.

But the house was silent.

Too silent.

He opened the door and immediately noticed something strange.

The wedding portrait that had always been placed on the entrance table was gone.

The flowers Camila personally took care of every week were gone.

Even the small decorations that gave the mansion warmth had disappeared.

Only emptiness remained.

—Camila?

His voice echoed through the hall.

No answer.

He walked upstairs quickly.

The bedroom door was open.

Inside, everything looked almost untouched.

Except for one thing.

The wedding ring.

It was lying on the nightstand.

Next to it was a simple white envelope.

Rodrigo frowned.

He opened it expecting a letter full of complaints.

Instead, there was only one sentence.

“Thank you for reminding me who I really am.”

His expression changed.

For the first time, a strange uneasiness appeared in his eyes.

He immediately called her.

The call connected.

But this time, Camila answered.

—Where are you?

His voice was no longer arrogant.

It carried confusion.

Camila sat inside the Navarro headquarters, looking through documents with her father’s lawyers beside her.

—Somewhere I should have returned to years ago.

Rodrigo was silent.

—Camila, what are you doing?

She looked at the financial report in front of her.

—Taking back what belongs to me.

A cold feeling spread through his chest.

—What does that mean?

Before she could answer, another voice came from the other side.

—Mr. Vega, you should be careful with your words. You are speaking with Miss Navarro, the executive heir of the Navarro Consortium.

Rodrigo froze.

Miss Navarro.

Those two words sounded impossible.

He laughed once.

A dry, uncertain laugh.

—What joke is this?

Camila’s expression didn’t change.

—You always thought I was just the woman standing behind you.

—The wife who cooked.

—The mother who stayed home.

—The person who sacrificed everything.

She paused.

—You never asked what I gave up to become that person.

Rodrigo gripped the phone tightly.

—Camila…

—Seven years ago, I chose you over an empire.

—Today, I choose my son and myself.

Silence.

Then Rodrigo finally understood.

The house.

The lifestyle.

The connections.

The opportunities.

Everything he thought he had built alone…

Had been supported by the woman he underestimated.

His voice became desperate.

—The shares… those documents…

Camila looked at the file with Lorena’s name.

—Yes.

—Your little plan was discovered.

Rodrigo’s breathing became heavier.

—Camila, listen to me. It’s not what you think.

For the first time, she almost smiled.

Because those were the same words people used when they had already been caught.

—Tomorrow morning, the legal team will freeze every unauthorized transfer connected to you and Lorena.

—Your board position will be reviewed.

—And the evidence regarding the attempted takeover will be submitted.

Rodrigo’s voice rose.

—You can’t do this to me!

Camila looked at the skyline outside the window.

The city she once abandoned.

The life she once left behind.

—I didn’t do this to you, Rodrigo.

—You did it the moment you believed I was powerless.

The call ended.

The next morning, Rodrigo entered the Navarro headquarters.

He expected negotiations.

He expected a chance to explain.

But when the elevator doors opened, every executive standing outside bowed.

Not to him.

To Camila.

She walked through the hall wearing a black suit, holding Thiago’s hand.

The little boy looked proud.

For the first time, he wasn’t walking behind his father.

He was walking beside his mother.

Rodrigo stared at them.

—Camila…

She stopped.

But she didn’t look at him like a wife.

She looked at him like a business opponent.

—Mr. Vega.

That title hurt more than anger.

Because it meant she was no longer his.

Lorena arrived moments later.

She was still confident.

Until she saw the room full of lawyers.

Until she saw the documents on the table.

Her smile disappeared.

—Rodrigo…

He didn’t answer.

Because he finally realized something terrifying.

Lorena was never the biggest threat.

The woman they both underestimated was.

Camila opened the first folder.

—Let’s begin.

She looked directly at her former husband.

—You wanted freedom.

—Now you have it.

—But freedom also means accepting the consequences of your choices.

Rodrigo lowered his head.

And for the first time in seven years…

He understood that losing Camila wasn’t the punishment.

It was the moment he realized he had already lost everything before she even left.
