Part 2: Two Years Later, Her Wedding Gift Arrived

But she did not look back.

The plane rose through the clouds before dawn.

Dao An placed one hand over her still-flat stomach and closed her eyes.

Three years of marriage ended with one signature.

Her new life began with four heartbeats.

Two years later.

Long Island, New York.

Morning sunlight poured through the enormous windows of a white villa overlooking the water.

Four children were crawling across the living-room carpet.

Three boys.

And one girl.

The eldest boy was quiet and observant.

The second had endless energy.

The third smiled whenever someone looked at him.

And the youngest girl had a pair of dark eyes that made Tu Ham sigh every time she visited.

“An An.”

Tu Ham picked up the little girl and stared at her face.

“She’s looking more and more like Co Canh Xuyen.”

Dao An paused for half a second.

Then continued reading the documents in her hand.

“She looks like herself.”

Tu Ham smiled helplessly.

During the past two years, Dao An had changed.

The woman who once carefully prepared breakfast for the Co family every morning was gone.

After arriving in America, she had invested part of the divorce settlement instead of living on it.

She built a business.

Quietly.

Patiently.

And successfully.

The four trillion VND that Co Chan Hung had thrown at her like compensation for disappearing had become the foundation of an entirely new life.

The Co family believed they had bought her silence.

In reality…

They had financed her freedom.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

A message appeared.

It came from an old acquaintance back home.

“Co Canh Xuyen is getting married next Saturday.”

Below it was an invitation.

Groom: Co Canh Xuyen.

Bride: Bach Vy Vy.

Dao An stared at the screen.

No sadness.

No anger.

Nothing.

Tu Ham leaned closer.

“They’re actually getting married?”

“Apparently.”

“And the triplets?”

Dao An looked at her.

That was the interesting part.

Six months after Dao An left, Bach Vy Vy had given birth to three boys.

The Co family had held an extravagant celebration.

Co Chan Hung reportedly gave each grandson property before they could even walk.

The old woman who had once complained that Dao An couldn’t continue the family bloodline now carried photographs of the three boys everywhere.

And Co Canh Xuyen?

He became the perfect father.

At least publicly.

There was only one problem.

Several months earlier, Dao An had received an unexpected message.

It came from someone who had once worked for Bach Vy Vy.

The message contained photographs.

Dates.

Hotel records.

And one name.

A man Bach Vy Vy had been secretly seeing before becoming pregnant.

Dao An had almost deleted everything.

The Co family was no longer her concern.

But then she remembered the four children sleeping upstairs.

And she made a decision.

Not for revenge.

For certainty.

Through legal channels and with appropriate consent and documentation, she arranged the testing she needed concerning her own children.

Separately, evidence concerning the paternity of Bach Vy Vy’s children eventually reached the people with authority to investigate the matter.

The results were devastating.

The three boys Co Chan Hung had proudly called the future of the Co bloodline…

were not biologically related to Co Canh Xuyen.

Not one.

Meanwhile, Dao An’s four children were.

Tu Ham watched her open the locked drawer in her desk.

Inside was a folder.

“You aren’t seriously thinking of sending that?”

Dao An removed copies of the reports.

“I am.”

“Why now?”

“Because they’re getting married.”

Tu Ham frowned.

“Do you still care about him?”

Dao An laughed softly.

“If I cared, I would have sent these two years ago.”

“Then why send them at all?”

Dao An looked toward her children.

“Because my children deserve a record of the truth.”

Then she picked up an envelope.

“And because some lies shouldn’t become permanent simply because everyone benefits from believing them.”

One week later.

The Co family’s wedding became the event everyone in their social circle was discussing.

The hotel ballroom glittered with crystal chandeliers.

Bach Vy Vy wore a custom-made wedding dress.

Three little boys wore matching suits.

Co Chan Hung stood near the entrance welcoming guests.

His smile never disappeared.

Finally…

His family had heirs.

At noon, the ceremony began.

Co Canh Xuyen stood at the front.

But when Bach Vy Vy started walking toward him…

a staff member hurried toward Co Chan Hung.

“Chairman Co.”

“A package arrived for you.”

“From America.”

Co Chan Hung frowned.

“Who sent it?”

The employee handed him the envelope.

There was no sender’s name.

Only one sentence.

A wedding gift for the Co family.

Something about those words made his stomach tighten.

He opened it.

Four photographs fell out first.

Four beautiful children.

Co Chan Hung froze.

The little girl’s eyes…

The eldest boy’s nose…

The second boy’s eyebrows…

He had seen those features before.

On his own son.

His hands began trembling.

Then he saw the documents.

One report.

Then another.

Then another.

His face turned white.

“Impossible…”

His wife rushed toward him.

“What happened?”

He couldn’t answer.

She grabbed the papers.

Seconds later, she screamed.

The sound stopped the wedding.

Every guest turned.

Bach Vy Vy stopped walking.

Co Canh Xuyen immediately came down from the stage.

“Dad?”

Co Chan Hung raised his head.

His lips were shaking.

“Where is Dao An?”

The name struck Co Canh Xuyen like a bullet.

For two years, no one had mentioned her in front of him.

He had tried finding her after the divorce.

At first, casually.

Then obsessively.

Her old number had been disconnected.

Her apartment was empty.

Her friends claimed they didn’t know where she had gone.

It was as if she had obeyed his father’s command perfectly.

Take the money.

Disappear.

Now suddenly…

Four children’s photographs were lying at his wedding.

Co Canh Xuyen picked one up.

His entire body stiffened.

“These children…”

Nobody answered.

He grabbed the report.

His eyes moved rapidly across the page.

Then stopped.

Biological relationship supported.

His breathing became uneven.

He looked at the birth dates.

Calculated backward.

Once.

Then again.

His face lost all color.

“She was pregnant when she left?”

His mother covered her mouth.

Four children.

Four.

And they had thrown their pregnant mother out of the Co family because another woman claimed to be carrying three sons.

Co Canh Xuyen suddenly looked toward Bach Vy Vy.

She had stopped several meters away.

Her face was pale.

“Vy Vy.”

His voice had changed.

“What is this?”

She shook her head immediately.

“I don’t know.”

Then Co Chan Hung threw another set of papers onto the table.

“Then explain these!”

Bach Vy Vy looked down.

Her knees almost gave way.

The documents concerned her three sons.

And the conclusion was unmistakable.

Co Canh Xuyen wasn’t their biological father.

“No…”

She stepped backward.

“Someone fabricated this!”

“Dao An!”

“It must be Dao An!”

“She hates me!”

Co Canh Xuyen didn’t shout.

That frightened her more.

He simply stared at her.

“Then we’ll test again.”

Bach Vy Vy stopped breathing.

“We’ll take samples today.”

Her lips trembled.

“Canh Xuyen…”

“Today.”

She collapsed.

And everyone understood.

The wedding never continued.

Three days later, independent testing confirmed the truth.

The three boys weren’t Co Canh Xuyen’s biological children.

The Co family mansion descended into chaos.

But Co Canh Xuyen cared about only one thing.

Dao An.

He finally obtained her American contact information through a lawyer.

He called.

Once.

Twice.

On the seventh attempt…

She answered.

Neither spoke for several seconds.

Finally, his voice came through.

“An An.”

Dao An looked through the window.

Her four children were playing outside.

“Don’t call me that.”

His breathing became heavy.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

“Tell you what?”

“About the children!”

“You signed the divorce.”

His voice rose.

“You knew they were mine!”

“Yes.”

“Then why did you disappear?”

For the first time, Dao An’s expression became cold.

“Your father gave me two choices.”

“Leave with the money…”

“Or stay and be destroyed.”

“And you stood there.”

Silence.

“You didn’t defend me.”

“You didn’t stop him.”

“You held another pregnant woman while your family erased me from your life.”

Co Canh Xuyen had no answer.

After a long time, he whispered:

“I didn’t know you were pregnant.”

“I didn’t know either.”

“Not until after I signed.”

Another silence.

Then he said the sentence she had expected.

“I want to see my children.”

Dao An looked at the four small figures outside.

“When they’re old enough, they can decide what relationship they want with you.”

“And us?”

She almost smiled.

“There is no us.”

“Dao An…”

“You received my wedding gift.”

“That’s all I wanted to give you.”

She ended the call.

Outside, her daughter noticed her standing by the window.

“Mommy!”

Four little bodies immediately came running toward the house.

Dao An opened the door.

The children surrounded her.

Their laughter filled the room.

Two years earlier, the Co family had given her four trillion VND because they believed she was the useless wife standing in the way of their heirs.

They had demanded that she disappear.

So she did.

And when she finally returned to their lives…

She didn’t ask for her husband back.

She didn’t ask for the Co family’s acceptance.

She didn’t even ask for revenge.

She simply sent them the truth.

Because sometimes the cruelest wedding gift isn’t hatred.

It’s proof that the family you threw away…

was the family you had been searching for all along.
