Robert gently touched Chloe’s bruised face.
His hands trembled.
“Who did this to you?”
She looked at him through swollen eyes.
“Lewis’s mother.”
“And the women she brought.”
Robert slowly stood.
His expression became frighteningly calm.
“When?”
“Tonight.”
“Where?”
“The Grand Biscayne Hotel.”
He reached into his pocket and made one phone call.
“Lock down every security recording from the presidential floor.”
“No footage gets deleted.”
“Not one second.”
He ended the call.
I stared at him.
“You still have connections?”
Robert nodded once.
“I own the hotel.”
The room fell silent.
Chloe blinked in disbelief.
“Our reception…”
“I allowed Lewis to book it because you wanted that venue.”
His jaw tightened.
“I had no idea what they planned.”
Twenty minutes later, we arrived at the emergency room.
Doctors photographed every bruise.
Every cut.
Every fingerprint-shaped mark on Chloe’s arms.
The attending physician quietly whispered,
“These injuries are consistent with prolonged physical assault.”
Robert requested copies of every report.
Before sunrise, his attorney arrived carrying a laptop.
“The security department recovered everything.”
The footage began to play.
Lewis escorted Chloe into the honeymoon suite.
He kissed her forehead.
Then walked out exactly nineteen minutes later.
Seconds afterward…
Victoria appeared.
Behind her came six women.
Each carrying handbags large enough to conceal something.
They entered the suite.
The door locked.
For nearly forty minutes, no one came out.
The hallway microphone couldn’t capture every word.
But one sentence echoed clearly through the speakers.
“Sign the condo over tonight… or you’ll never leave this room.”
My blood ran cold.
Then another camera activated.
Lewis stood outside the suite.
He wasn’t trying to stop them.
He leaned against the wall scrolling through his phone.
At one point, Victoria opened the door.
Lewis calmly looked inside.
Everyone heard his voice.
“Just don’t hit her face too much.”
He closed the door again.
The room fell completely silent.
Robert slowly closed the laptop.

“I’ve seen enough.”
Just then, Detective Melissa Grant entered with two officers.
She had already reviewed the medical records.
Then she watched the security footage.
Without saying a word, she removed a folder from her briefcase.
“There are arrest warrants being prepared.”
I thought it was over.
Then the detective placed one final photograph on the table.
It showed Victoria meeting privately with a man inside the hotel lobby two days before the wedding.
The detective tapped the picture.
“We identified him this morning.”
“He isn’t family.”
“He specializes in fraudulent property transfers.”
Robert frowned.
“What does that mean?”
The detective opened another file.
“We searched his office at dawn.”
“There was already a deed transferring Chloe’s $1.8 million condominium to Lewis.”
“The signatures had been forged before the wedding even began.”
She paused before adding the sentence that made everyone in the room freeze.
“They never planned for your daughter to survive long enough to refuse.”
