Part 2: THE MAN WHO KNEW THE TRUTH

For a long moment, neither of us moved.

The little boy standing between us rubbed his forehead after the collision, then calmly adjusted his tiny sunglasses as though nothing had happened.

“I’m sorry, Mommy,” Liam said.

I knelt immediately.

“Are you hurt?”

He shook his head.

“I’m fine.”

Only then did I look back at the man in front of us.

He hadn’t taken his eyes off Liam.

Or rather…

He hadn’t taken his eyes off Liam’s face.

Because anyone looking carefully could see it.

The sharp jaw.

The straight nose.

The cold expression.

Liam looked almost exactly like Ethan.

The stranger slowly crouched to Liam’s height.

“What’s your name?”

“Liam Hayes.”

“And your mother?”

He looked at me proudly.

“My mommy is Sophia Hayes.”

The man’s gaze finally shifted to me.

There was no rudeness in it.

Only surprise.

“I’m sorry,” he said politely. “I didn’t mean to frighten your son.”

“It’s all right.”

He stood and extended his hand.

“Julian Blake.”

The world seemed to stop.

Blake.

The same last name.

The same face.

Only older.

More mature.

Then I remembered.

Ethan had once mentioned an older brother who had lived overseas for years managing the family’s international business.

Julian Blake.

The real heir to the Blake Group.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

“Have we met before?”

“I don’t believe so.”

He continued studying me.

Then his expression subtly changed.

“You look familiar.”

Before I could answer, Emma tugged gently on my sleeve.

“Mommy…”

“Ice cream.”

I smiled.

“Of course.”

I took all three children by the hand.

“Excuse us.”

As we walked away, I could still feel Julian watching us.

Especially Liam.

Half an hour later, we were sitting inside a quiet café overlooking the airport terminal.

The triplets happily shared three enormous ice cream sundaes.

My phone vibrated.

An unknown number.

I answered cautiously.

“Mrs. Hayes?”

“Speaking.”

“This is Julian Blake.”

My fingers tightened around the phone.

“I hope you don’t mind. Airport security helped me locate your contact information after our encounter.”

“What can I do for you?”

“I’d like to meet.”

“I’m busy.”

“It’s about Ethan.”

I almost laughed.

“I have no interest in discussing my ex-husband.”

“It’s actually about why he never knew you were pregnant.”

My smile disappeared.

Silence.

Julian continued.

“I don’t believe you intentionally hid your pregnancy.”

My heart began beating faster.

“How would you know that?”

“Because five years ago…”

“…I found something in Ethan’s office.”

I slowly stood from the table and walked a few steps away from the children.

“What did you find?”

“A sealed medical envelope.”

My breathing caught.

“It was addressed to Ethan.”

“The sender was Harbor City Women’s Hospital.”

“The envelope had already been opened.”

My voice became almost inaudible.

“What was inside?”

“I never read it.”

“But someone else clearly had.”

“Who?”

“My mother.”

I froze.

Julian sighed heavily.

“When I asked her why she had Ethan’s personal mail…”

“She claimed it had been delivered to the family residence by mistake.”

A terrible feeling settled in my stomach.

“She lied.”

“I believe so.”

The memories returned all at once.

The ultrasound.

The medical report.

The follow-up appointment.

The hospital confirming they had mailed a copy of my prenatal report because Ethan had missed the consultation.

He had never mentioned receiving it.

Because…

He never had.

Julian spoke again.

“I think someone made sure my brother never discovered the truth.”

I closed my eyes.

“Why are you telling me this now?”

“Because after seeing your son…”

“…I knew.”

I looked across the café.

Liam was calmly helping Emma clean melted ice cream from her hands while Noah carefully divided the remaining dessert into three perfectly equal portions.

Three children.

Three lives.

A secret kept for five years.

“What do you want from me?”

“Nothing.”

A pause.

“I only believe Ethan deserves to know he has children.”

I laughed softly.

“Billionaires always think everyone deserves something.”

“What do you think?”

“I think he deserved the truth five years ago.”

“And now?”

I watched my three children.

“My children deserve peace.”

The call ended.

That evening, after putting the triplets to bed in our hotel suite, I stood alone on the balcony overlooking Harbor City.

My phone vibrated again.

This time it wasn’t Julian.

It was Ethan.

A message from a number I had never seen before.

Only one sentence.

Sophia… who was the little boy at the airport?

Attached was a photograph.

Someone had secretly taken it.

It showed Liam standing beside Ethan’s luxury car.

The resemblance was impossible to ignore.

Before I could decide whether to reply, another message appeared.

I already ordered a DNA test.

Then a third.

Because if I’m right…

…those aren’t just your children.

They’re mine.
