PART 2: The Daughter They Hid

The moment the old man said “my daughter,” I thought he had the wrong person.

Because I had spent twenty-seven years believing I was Emma Collins.

A normal girl.

A woman without a powerful family.

A woman who had just lost her marriage and was trying to survive with a baby growing inside her.

But the man standing in front of me looked at me like he had spent a lifetime searching for someone.

And I was the answer.

“Who are you?”

My voice trembled.

The old man tightened his grip on the folder.

“My name is Richard Lancaster.”

The name that had only existed in business magazines.

The name that appeared on buildings.

The name people whispered with respect.

I stared at him.

“No.”

He closed his eyes for a second.

“I know this is impossible to accept.”

He opened the folder.

Inside were old photographs.

A baby.

A woman.

A young man.

And a hospital bracelet.

My hands started shaking.

Because on the bracelet was a name.

Not Emma Collins.

A name I had never seen before.

Amelia Lancaster.

“I don’t understand.”

Richard sat across from me.

“Twenty-seven years ago, my daughter disappeared.”

I remained silent.

“She was only a few months old.”

My breathing stopped.

“The hospital records said she had died.”

The room became quiet.

“But years later, we discovered something was wrong.”

He pushed another document toward me.

“Someone changed the records.”

I looked at the papers.

The signatures.

The dates.

The official stamps.

Everything was real.

“Why?”

Richard’s eyes became filled with pain.

“Because someone wanted the Lancaster heir to disappear.”

I touched my face unconsciously.

My entire life suddenly felt like a story someone else had written.

The adoption.

The missing records.

The unknown biological parents.

Everything had an explanation.

Except one thing.

“Why now?”

Richard looked at my belly.

And his expression changed.

“Because your child changed everything.”

I froze.

“What?”

“The Lancaster bloodline was believed to have ended.”

He took a breath.

“But now…”

His eyes moved toward me.

“Now there are two lives carrying our family name.”

At that exact moment, my phone rang.

Adrian.

I stared at the screen.

The man who wanted to divorce me.

The man who didn’t know he had a child.

The man who thought I was powerless.

I almost ignored it.

But Richard noticed.

“Who is it?”

I looked at the name.

“My husband.”

The room became silent.

“Does he know?”

I shook my head.

“No.”

Richard’s expression darkened.

“Good.”

The way he said it surprised me.

“Why?”

Because for the first time, I saw something in his eyes.

Not anger.

Protection.

“Because before anyone approaches you…”

A pause.

“We need to know who can be trusted.”

Three hours later, the news reached the Blake family.

Not through me.

Through the hospital.

Because powerful families always hear things before ordinary people.

Adrian was in his office when his assistant rushed in.

“Mr. Blake.”

Adrian looked annoyed.

“What?”

The assistant hesitated.

“It’s about Emma Collins.”

His expression changed.

“What about her?”

“She was admitted to Westbridge General.”

Adrian frowned.

“Is she sick?”

The assistant swallowed.

“No.”

“Then what?”

“She was identified as…”

He stopped.

Adrian stood.

“As what?”

The assistant finally said:

“Amelia Lancaster.”

Silence.

Adrian laughed.

Not because it was funny.

Because he couldn’t believe it.

“That’s impossible.”

The assistant handed him the report.

Adrian read it.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

The woman he had sent away.

The woman he believed had nothing.

The woman he told to leave with nothing but her suitcase…

was a Lancaster.

The same Lancaster family his company had spent years trying to cooperate with.

His face became pale.

Then his phone rang.

Olivia.

He answered immediately.

“Adrian?”

Her voice sounded nervous.

“Did you hear?”

He remained silent.

“Honey, I think there’s a misunderstanding.”

He narrowed his eyes.

“What misunderstanding?”

Olivia hesitated.

“The hospital records…”

A pause.

“Emma’s identity.”

Adrian’s grip tightened.

“You knew?”

Silence.

That silence answered everything.

“Olivia.”

His voice became cold.

“How long?”

She started explaining quickly.

“I didn’t know everything. I only saw the medical report. I thought…”

“You thought what?”

“I thought she was hiding something.”

Adrian laughed softly.

A dangerous laugh.

“Like I was?”

Meanwhile, I was sitting beside the hospital window.

The city looked completely different.

Yesterday, I was Emma Collins.

The abandoned wife.

The woman Adrian wanted to erase from his life.

Today…

I was someone everyone suddenly wanted to find.

But something bothered me.

I looked at Richard.

“If my family is so powerful…”

“Why did nobody find me for twenty-seven years?”

His expression changed.

A heavy silence filled the room.

Then he said:

“Because someone inside our family helped hide you.”

My heart stopped.

“What?”

Richard looked at the door.

“That’s why you cannot trust anyone yet.”

That night, I received a message.

Unknown number.

Only one sentence.

“Congratulations on discovering who you are.”

I stared at the screen.

Then another message appeared.

“But ask your new father why he really lost you.”

My blood turned cold.

Before I could reply, another message arrived.

A photograph.

An old photograph.

A woman holding a baby.

And standing beside them…

was Richard Lancaster.

But behind him was another person.

Someone I recognized immediately.

Someone who had been part of my life for three years.

I dropped the phone.

Because the person in the picture was:

Adrian Blake’s mother.

And underneath the photo was one final sentence:

“Your divorce was never about Olivia.”

“It started twenty-seven years ago.”
