Part 2: The Family He Chose Finally Abandoned Him

When Khuong Vien stepped out of the elevator, he still felt strangely uncomfortable.

The hospital corridor was full of happiness.

Parents holding newborn babies.

Families gathering around hospital beds.

Everyone’s faces were filled with excitement.

Only he was alone.

The irony was painful.

Today was supposed to be the day he announced good news.

His younger brother had become a father.

The Khuong family finally had a grandson.

And he…

He had just become a divorced man.

When he arrived at the ward, he saw his parents standing outside.

Khuong Quoc Phu was smiling from ear to ear.

The moment he saw his eldest son, he immediately waved.

“Vien, come quickly.”

“Look at your nephew.”

Inside the room, Khuong Dao and Ton Lili were surrounded by relatives.

Everyone was smiling.

Everyone was celebrating.

Except Khuong Vien.

He looked at the tiny babies sleeping in the crib.

A boy.

A girl.

Two lives that represented the continuation of the Khuong family.

His father walked over proudly.

“Our family finally has an heir.”

“Your grandfather would be happy if he saw this.”

Khuong Vien forced a smile.

“Congratulations.”

Khuong Quoc Phu looked at him carefully.

“Why do you look so unhappy?”

“Didn’t you finish dealing with that woman?”

That woman.

Two simple words.

But they made Khuong Vien’s expression change.

Tham Dao had a name.

She had spent five years taking care of this family.

But in his father’s mouth…

She was only “that woman.”

Before he could answer, Trieu Que Phuong suddenly asked:

“By the way, did you bring money?”

Khuong Vien froze.

“What money?”

“Your brother’s house renovation.”

His mother looked confused.

“You promised before that after the baby was born, you would help.”

“I never promised that.”

Khuong Dao immediately frowned.

“Brother, how can you say that?”

“We are family.”

“Now that I have children, you should help.”

Khuong Vien stared at his younger brother.

For the first time, he felt strange.

When did helping become an obligation?

When did his family’s needs become more important than his own marriage?

His phone suddenly rang.

Unknown number.

He answered.

A cold female voice came from the other side.

“Mr. Khuong.”

“This is the property management office of Nam Thanh apartment.”

“Your belongings have been removed.”

“Mrs. Shen also changed the lock today.”

Khuong Vien’s fingers tightened.

He had forgotten.

He no longer had a home.

His father noticed his expression.

“What happened?”

Khuong Vien did not answer.

Because suddenly he remembered the day Tham Dao left.

She had stood at the door with her suitcase.

He had thought she was just angry.

He thought she would come back.

Like every other time.

But she didn’t.

This time she really left.

That night, Khuong Vien returned to his parents’ house.

The moment he opened the door, he heard his father shouting.

“Impossible!”

“I have lived here for so many years!”

“How can she tell me to leave?”

Khuong Vien stopped.

“What happened?”

Khuong Quoc Phu turned around angrily.

“Your ex-wife.”

“She cut off my living expenses.”

“She even sent people to ask me to move out.”

Khuong Vien was stunned.

“Move out?”

His mother immediately complained.

“Yes.”

“She said the house belongs to her.”

“She said your family has nothing to do with it anymore.”

Khuong Vien remained silent.

Because those words…

Were exactly what Tham Dao had told him.

The house belonged to her.

The money came from her.

The loan was paid by her.

At that time, he thought she was being unreasonable.

Now…

He suddenly realized something terrifying.

For five years, he had allowed his family to live comfortably.

Using the woman he loved as the price.

His father slammed the table.

“She has become too arrogant.”

“She was just lucky to marry into our family.”

“Without you, who would she be?”

The sentence echoed in the room.

Khuong Vien slowly raised his head.

He looked at his father.

And for the first time…

He wanted to ask:

Without Tham Dao…

Who were they?

The next day, Khuong Vien went to the company.

But he couldn’t focus.

Every document in front of him reminded him of her.

The contract she helped negotiate.

The clients she introduced.

The problems she solved quietly.

Everyone in the company respected her.

Only he…

Only he believed she was just a wife who stayed at home.

At noon, his assistant placed a document on his desk.

“Mr. Khuong, this was sent by Director Shen’s office.”

His heart stopped.

“Director Shen?”

The assistant nodded.

“Yes.”

“She asked us to transfer all cooperation matters to her team.”

Khuong Vien opened the document.

The first page contained a sentence.

“From today onward, all previous personal relationships are terminated. All future cooperation will follow official procedures.”

No emotion.

No anger.

No complaints.

Just distance.

The same distance he had forced her to create.

That night, Khuong Vien finally understood.

Tham Dao did not leave because she hated him.

She left because she had finally learned not to love him anymore.

And the most painful thing was…

He had spent five years teaching her how to live without him.

Now she had succeeded.

But he was the one who couldn’t accept it.

Three days later, Khuong Vien received a message.

It was from the Civil Affairs Department.

A reminder that their divorce registration had been completed.

A normal notification.

But he stared at it for a long time.

Because only then did he understand.

The marriage that he thought would always exist…

Had truly ended.

And while he was trying to get used to losing Tham Dao…

The Khuong family was about to discover something even worse.

The woman they treated as someone replaceable…

Was the person who had secretly supported everything they owned.
