PART 2: THE CAMERA REVEALED WHAT AVA TRIED TO HIDE

The station security officer arrived less than five minutes later.

Ethan immediately changed his expression.

The confidence disappeared.

“Lily, are you really doing this?”

I looked at him.

“Doing what?”

“Making a small misunderstanding into a police matter.”

A small misunderstanding.

That was always his favorite phrase.

When Ava ruined my presentations.

When Ava canceled our plans.

When Ava crossed every boundary.

Everything became a misunderstanding.

But this time, it was my identity.

My freedom.

My documents.

The officer looked at me.

“Can you explain exactly what happened?”

I nodded.

“My ID was inside my bag. My boyfriend took my bag from the train and gave it back without it.”

The officer turned to Ethan.

“Sir, did you remove any items from the bag?”

Ethan immediately shook his head.

“No. I only borrowed it because Ava needed sunscreen.”

The officer frowned.

“Who is Ava?”

Everyone turned.

Ava lowered her eyes.

“I… I’m his childhood friend.”

The officer looked between them.

Then at me.

“Do you suspect this woman took the document?”

Before I could answer, Ethan stepped forward.

“Of course not. Lily is just upset.”

I smiled.

There it was again.

He wasn’t protecting the truth.

He was protecting Ava.

The officer requested access to the train cameras.

Ten minutes later, the footage appeared on the station monitor.

The first video showed Ethan and Ava getting off the train.

Together.

Laughing.

Then another image appeared.

Ava opening my bag.

Her hand went inside.

She looked around.

And then she placed something into her own purse.

The entire station became silent.

Ava’s face lost all color.

“No…”

She whispered.

“I was just looking for the sunscreen.”

The officer looked at the screen.

“Then why did you take the passport holder?”

Ethan turned slowly toward her.

For the first time, he looked confused.

“Ava?”

She grabbed his arm.

“Ethan, I can explain.”

But I already knew that scene.

I had seen it many times.

Ava crying.

Ethan defending.

Me becoming the villain.

Only this time…

There were cameras.

There was evidence.

And there was no way to rewrite what happened.

The officer asked Ava to open her bag.

She refused at first.

Then Ethan whispered something to her.

Her fingers trembled.

Slowly, she opened it.

My ID was inside.

Along with my sunglasses.

The same sunglasses she said she had never seen.

Ethan stood frozen.

I watched his face change.

Not because he finally understood my pain.

But because he finally realized the woman he had protected for years had been lying.

“Lily…”

His voice was low.

“I didn’t know.”

I looked at him.

“No.”

“You never knew.”

“You never wanted to know.”

Ava started crying.

“Lily, please. Don’t destroy my friendship with Ethan because of this.”

I almost laughed.

Friendship.

That word.

The excuse that had destroyed our relationship little by little.

I picked up my ID from the officer’s hand.

Then I turned to Ethan.

“Enjoy your trip with Ava.”

His eyes widened.

“What?”

I smiled calmly.

“My vacation starts now.”

I walked away with my suitcase.

But I didn’t see the message that arrived on Ethan’s phone a few seconds later.

A message from his company’s legal department.

The one that made his face turn pale.

Because the woman he had just abandoned at the station…

Was not just his girlfriend.

She was the person who had been secretly leading the biggest investment project his company depended on.

And tomorrow morning…

The entire board would know exactly who he chose to lose.
