PART 2: THE DAY I STOPPED BEING HIS WIFE

The next morning, Chu Trach Vu woke up expecting to see the same scene as always.

A warm breakfast on the table.

A clean house.

My voice calling him to eat.

And me quietly accepting everything he decided.

But when he opened his eyes, the house was strangely silent.

Too silent.

“Niem An?”

He called for the child first.

No answer.

He walked downstairs.

The living room was empty.

The suitcase that belonged to the child was gone.

The toys were gone.

The small clothes were gone.

And the woman who had spent five years taking care of everything in this house…

was gone too.

Only a white piece of paper remained on the table.

Chu Trach Vu frowned.

He picked it up.

There were only two sentences.

“The person you want to keep, you take care of yourself.”

His fingers tightened around the paper.

For the first time, panic appeared on his face.

He immediately called my phone.

No answer.

Again.

No answer.

The third time, the call was directly rejected.

Chu Trach Vu stood frozen.

Because he had never imagined that I would ignore him.

In his mind, I was always there.

No matter how late he came home.

No matter how many times he disappointed me.

No matter how many times he chose someone else.

I was always there.

Waiting.

Forgiving.

Staying.

But he forgot one thing.

Even the most patient person has a limit.

Meanwhile, I sat in the car with my two children beside me.

Tong An An was sleeping quietly.

Tong Lac Lac held my hand tightly.

They were still too young to understand what happened.

But they understood one thing.

We were leaving.

I looked at them.

My biological children.

The children who had spent half a month in incubators after birth.

The children whose father claimed he was too busy working for their future.

And suddenly I felt ridiculous.

For years, I believed I was protecting this family.

But the truth was…

I was the only person protecting it.

Chu Trach Vu was never building a family with me.

He was building a comfortable life around himself.

A wife who cooked.

A wife who cleaned.

A wife who raised his children.

And when he needed to feel like a good man…

he could tell everyone he was a responsible husband.

But behind closed doors, he had already created another family.

That afternoon, my lawyer arrived.

I placed the documents on the table.

“I want a divorce.”

The lawyer looked at me carefully.

“Are you sure?”

I nodded.

“Completely.”

“Do you have any demands?”

I looked at my children.

“Yes.”

I paused.

“I want full custody.”

The lawyer nodded.

“And property division?”

I smiled slightly.

“For everything that belongs to him, let him keep it.”

“But I want him to remember something.”

“What?”

“That he chose to abandon this family.”

Three days later, Chu Trach Vu finally came to find me.

He stood outside my mother’s house.

His expression was no longer calm.

The arrogant confidence he always carried was gone.

When he saw me, he immediately walked forward.

“Why did you leave?”

I looked at him.

Not angry.

Not emotional.

Just tired.

“You really don’t know?”

His face changed.

“I brought my son home.”

“Yes.”

“And you left because of that?”

I almost laughed.

“No.”

“Then why?”

I looked directly into his eyes.

“Because you didn’t bring a child home.”

“You brought a responsibility you wanted someone else to carry.”

Chu Trach Vu froze.

“He is my son.”

“Yes.”

“And I never said he wasn’t.”

“Then why are you treating him like this?”

I looked at him quietly.

“Because he is your son.”

“Not mine.”

His expression became complicated.

“But you are his mother now.”

That sentence.

That one sentence.

Made me finally understand how little he respected me.

“You still don’t understand.”

I smiled.

“I am not his mother.”

“I am his father’s wife.”

“You cannot erase his real mother and assign me a role just because it is convenient for you.”

Chu Trach Vu lowered his voice.

“I thought you were different.”

I looked at him.

“Different?”

“Yes.”

“You were always kind. Understanding.”

I nodded.

“I was.”

“Until I realized you were using my kindness as permission to hurt me.”

He had no answer.

For the first time, he had nothing to say.

Then his eyes moved toward the room behind me.

Where An An and Lac Lac were playing.

His biological children.

The children he had barely held when they were born.

The children he claimed he sacrificed everything for.

“Can I see them?”

I stepped aside.

But before he entered, I said:

“Remember something, Chu Trach Vu.”

He stopped.

“You are allowed to be their father.”

“But you are not allowed to use them as a reason for me to return.”

His body stiffened.

Because he finally understood.

I wasn’t leaving because I hated him.

I was leaving because I had finally stopped waiting for him to become the man he promised to be.

That night, Chu Trach Vu returned to the empty house alone.

The room where he once brought his secret son was still there.

But the woman who had silently carried his entire life…

was gone.

And the next morning, when he opened the drawer where I kept our wedding photos, he found something that made him completely lose control.

A letter.

Not from me.

From the person he thought he had abandoned years ago.

The mother of Chu Niem An.

And the truth inside that letter would reveal why he had hidden this child from everyone.
