PART 2: THE MAN WHO THOUGHT HE COULD LOSE ME WITHOUT CONSEQUENCES

The next morning, the entire capital knew what happened at the Kim Tuong Vi Awards.

But the story that spread was not the one Pho Yen wanted.

Everyone expected to see a romantic confession.

Instead, they saw a man humiliating his own fiancée on the biggest night of her career.

The headlines changed overnight.

“Pho Family Heir Publicly Abandons Engagement.”

“Tham Tri Vi’s Silence Becomes The Most Powerful Response.”

“Seven Years Of Support Ends In One Night.”

Pho Yen sat in his office, staring at the news reports.

His face was expressionless.

But his hands were tightly clenched.

He had expected anger.

He had expected protests.

He had expected the Tham family to complain.

What he didn’t expect was silence.

A silence that meant they had truly given up on him.

His assistant placed another document on the table.

“Mr. Pho.”

“The investors from the Harbor project have requested a meeting.”

Pho Yen looked up.

“Good.”

He thought this was his chance.

He thought everyone would eventually understand him.

Until the assistant continued:

“They want to terminate the cooperation.”

The room became quiet.

“Why?”

The assistant lowered his voice.

“Because the Tham family’s capital has been withdrawn.”

Pho Yen’s expression changed.

“They can’t do that.”

“They can.”

The assistant hesitated.

“Mr. Pho… most of the contracts were approved because of Tham Group’s guarantees.”

For the first time, Pho Yen felt panic.

The family he believed he could abandon had always been the reason he stood at the top.

And the woman he thought would always wait for him…

had just closed the door.

Meanwhile, I was sitting in the studio reviewing my new project.

Ha Lam walked in with a tablet.

“Vi Vi.”

“Do you know what people are saying online?”

I didn’t look up.

“What?”

“They say you are cruel.”

I smiled.

“Of course.”

She frowned.

“You’re not angry?”

“No.”

I turned the page.

“People always think the person who finally stops tolerating is the cruel one.”

Ha Lam became silent.

Because she knew.

For years, everyone saw Pho Yen as the talented young heir.

The future leader of the Pho family.

The man who needed to be understood.

But nobody saw the woman behind him.

The woman who used her family’s resources to support his career.

The woman who defended his reputation.

The woman who stood beside him when nobody knew his name.

Until the day he decided that love meant he could disrespect her.

That afternoon, Pho Yen came to see me.

He was no longer arrogant.

No longer confident.

He stood outside my office for almost ten minutes before entering.

“Vi Vi.”

I continued reading the documents.

“What do you need?”

His lips moved.

For a moment, he looked exactly like the man I had loved.

But then I remembered the stage.

The ring.

The way he looked at To Niem.

And the feeling disappeared.

“I want to apologize.”

I closed the file.

“For what?”

He froze.

“For everything.”

I smiled.

“That is too general.”

Pho Yen looked at me.

“I shouldn’t have done that at the ceremony.”

“No.”

“You shouldn’t have done it at all.”

His expression changed.

“I really didn’t mean to hurt you.”

I looked at him quietly.

“Pho Yen, do you know what your biggest mistake was?”

He didn’t answer.

“You think the problem is that you chose another woman.”

“It isn’t.”

“The problem is that you believed I would still be here after you chose her.”

Those words made him lower his eyes.

For years, he believed my love was unlimited.

That no matter how many times he rejected me, I would return.

He never imagined that one day I would stop.

“Can we start over?”

I almost laughed.

“Start over?”

“Yes.”

“With what?”

He looked confused.

I continued:

“With the same man who publicly said our engagement was a mistake?”

“The same man who called our family’s tradition outdated?”

“The same man who gave away the ring my mother chose for me?”

Silence.

“Pho Yen.”

I stood up.

“You don’t miss me.”

“You miss the person who always forgave you.”

His face turned pale.

Because that was the truth he didn’t want to admit.

At that moment, his phone rang.

He looked at the screen.

His mother’s name.

He answered.

Only a few seconds later, his expression completely changed.

“What happened?”

A long silence.

Then:

“Grandfather collapsed.”

I looked at him.

For the first time, I saw real fear in his eyes.

Because the Pho family had finally realized something.

They had spent years depending on the Tham family.

And they had pushed away the only person who could have protected them.

Pho Yen looked at me.

“Vi Vi…”

I didn’t respond.

He wanted to ask for help.

I could see it.

But this time, I didn’t save him.

Because some lessons are only learned after losing something precious.

And Pho Yen was about to discover the hardest truth of his life.

The woman he thought would always stand behind him…

was the woman standing between him and destruction.
