PART 2: THE NIGHT JIANG CHEN LOST EVERYTHING

The villa was completely silent.

For five years, this place had been called their home.

But tonight, sitting alone under the darkness, Lam Khe suddenly realized something.

It had never truly belonged to her.

She had spent years building a life around a man who had already forgotten who helped him stand up.

The sound of the door opening finally broke the silence.

Jiang Chen rushed in.

His expensive suit was wrinkled.

His face no longer had the confidence of the company’s general manager.

Instead, there was only panic.

The moment he saw Lam Khe sitting on the sofa, he immediately walked toward her.

“Khe Khe.”

That familiar name came out again.

But this time, it no longer had the same effect.

She looked at him calmly.

“Why are you here?”

Jiang Chen stopped.

“Why am I here?”

He looked at her as if he could not believe her question.

“Our company is in trouble.”

“Our investors withdrew the capital.”

“Do you know how serious this is?”

Lam Khe looked at him.

“I know.”

His eyes widened.

“You know?”

“Yes.”

A strange feeling appeared in his chest.

For some reason, the calmness in her voice made him uncomfortable.

“You contacted your cousin?”

She did not answer immediately.

Instead, she poured herself a glass of water.

Then she slowly said:

“My cousin is not someone you can ignore.”

Jiang Chen swallowed.

“Why didn’t you tell me before?”

Lam Khe smiled faintly.

“Would you have believed me?”

He opened his mouth.

But no words came out.

Because the answer was obvious.

For years, he had only seen her as the wife who stayed at home.

The woman who managed the family.

The woman who supported him quietly.

He had forgotten that behind her was the Lam family.

The family that helped him when his company was just a small office with three employees.

The family that introduced him to his first major partners.

The family that helped him survive his biggest crisis.

And now…

The same family only needed one sentence to take everything away.

“Lam Khe.”

His voice softened.

“I know I made a mistake tonight.”

She looked at him.

“A mistake?”

“Yes.”

He stepped closer.

“Vi Vi wearing your dress was wrong.”

“I should have handled it better.”

“I shouldn’t have spoken to you like that.”

He looked desperate.

“But I never wanted to hurt you.”

Lam Khe quietly listened.

Then she asked:

“Did you ever think about why I was angry?”

Jiang Chen froze.

She continued.

“Was it because of the party?”

“Because I couldn’t enter?”

“Because another woman wore my dress?”

He remained silent.

“No.”

Her voice became colder.

“The reason I was hurt was because you looked at me like I was someone who embarrassed you.”

“You forgot that before you became General Manager Jiang…”

“You were just Jiang Chen.”

The memories suddenly returned.

Years ago.

Before the company existed.

When he slept in a small rented apartment.

When he worked until midnight.

When everyone said his dream was impossible.

She was the one who stayed.

She sold her jewelry to help him pay employees.

She used her family connections to introduce him to investors.

She gave up opportunities so he could chase his dream.

But after he succeeded…

He started believing he succeeded alone.

“I never forgot.”

Jiang Chen whispered.

But even he knew those words sounded weak.

Lam Khe looked at him.

“You did.”

“You just forgot because remembering would make you uncomfortable.”

At that moment, his phone rang.

The screen showed:

Bach Vi Vi.

Jiang Chen immediately rejected the call.

Lam Khe noticed.

A small smile appeared.

“You don’t need to do that.”

“I don’t care anymore.”

His expression changed.

“Khe Khe…”

“Tomorrow, I will send the divorce agreement.”

His face instantly became pale.

“No.”

The answer came too quickly.

“No?”

He shook his head.

“We can solve this.”

“The company can solve this.”

“Our marriage can solve this.”

Lam Khe looked at him.

“Jiang Chen.”

“Do you know what the saddest thing is?”

“You are still trying to fix everything except the thing that broke.”

He stood there.

Unable to respond.

The next morning, news spread throughout the business world.

The investor behind Jiang Chen’s 50 billion capital raising deal had officially terminated cooperation.

The reason given was simple:

“Strategic adjustment.”

But everyone inside the company knew something else.

The investor’s representative had personally said:

“We invested because of Lam Khe’s family trust.”

“Without her support, we reconsider our partnership.”

The company’s employees began whispering.

They finally learned the truth.

The woman who was kept outside the celebration party…

Was the person who made the celebration possible.

Meanwhile, Bach Vi Vi arrived at the company.

She still believed Jiang Chen would protect her.

Until she saw the cold expressions around her.

Someone handed her a document.

“Miss Bach.”

“Your position has been terminated.”

Her face changed.

“What?”

“Who decided this?”

Before the employee could answer, Jiang Chen appeared.

Vi Vi immediately walked toward him.

“Brother Chen, you can’t do this.”

He looked at her.

For the first time, there was no affection in his eyes.

Only exhaustion.

“Return the dress.”

Vi Vi froze.

“The dress?”

“That belongs to Lam Khe.”

Her expression became ugly.

“Are you blaming me now?”

Jiang Chen closed his eyes.

He suddenly realized something.

For years, he had blamed circumstances.

He blamed work.

He blamed pressure.

He blamed everyone except himself.

But the person who destroyed his marriage was not Vi Vi.

It was him.

That evening, he returned to the villa.

But Lam Khe was no longer there.

The closet was half empty.

Her things were gone.

On the table was only one envelope.

Inside was the divorce agreement.

And a short letter.

“Jiang Chen.”

“I spent five years helping you build your dream.”

“Now I want to spend the rest of my life building my own.”

“I don’t hate you.”

“But I will never return to the place where I was treated as someone unworthy.”

His hands trembled.

Because for the first time…

He understood.

Lam Khe had not taken revenge.

She had simply stopped sacrificing herself.

And outside the window, a black car slowly disappeared into the night.

Inside it, Lam Khe looked forward.

Her phone lit up.

A message from her cousin.

“Are you ready to come back to Europe?”

She looked at the city where she had spent five years.

Then replied:

“Yes.”

“It’s time to return to the life I abandoned.”

And this time…

Nobody could stop her.
