PART 2: The Fortune My Parents Hid From Everyone

Tong Tieu Hoa stood beside the empty apartment building for almost an hour.

The neighbors walked past her quietly.

Some looked at her with sympathy.

Some whispered.

Everyone knew something had happened.

But nobody knew the truth.

Three years of marriage.

Three years of believing she had built a family.

And in just three days, everything disappeared.

Except one thing.

Her anger.

When her father arrived, he didn’t ask many questions.

He simply walked toward her, took the suitcase from her hand, and said:

“Let’s go home, daughter.”

Those four words made Tong Tieu Hoa finally break down.

She had tried to stay strong.

She had tried to tell herself that she didn’t care about Lu Tuan Kiet anymore.

But the pain was not only because of losing a husband.

It was because she realized she had spent three years trusting people who never respected her.

On the way home, her father remained silent.

Her mother kept holding her hand.

No one blamed her.

No one asked why she didn’t notice earlier.

That night, after arriving home, Tong Tieu Hoa sat in her childhood bedroom.

Everything was still the same.

The old desk.

The curtains her mother had chosen.

The small bookshelf filled with memories.

She looked around and suddenly felt embarrassed.

At thirty years old, she had returned home after a failed marriage.

She thought her parents would see her as a burden.

But she didn’t know that they had been waiting for this day.

The next morning, her father entered her room.

“Come with me.”

Tong Tieu Hoa was confused.

“Where?”

“To the bank.”

She frowned.

“Dad, I don’t need money.”

Her father smiled.

“I know.”

“That’s why I’m taking you.”

At the bank, the manager immediately stood up when he saw her father.

“Mr. Chu, everything has been prepared.”

Tong Tieu Hoa looked at her father in surprise.

Mr. Chu?

Why did the bank manager speak to him so respectfully?

Her father handed her a document.

“Open it.”

Her hands trembled as she read.

It was a financial report.

Then another.

And another.

Her eyes widened.

She looked at her father.

“Dad… what is this?”

Her father calmly replied:

“Your mother and I won the investment settlement.”

She stared at him.

“How much?”

Her mother, who had followed them quietly, smiled.

“Four hundred million yuan.”

The world seemed to stop.

Tong Tieu Hoa thought she had heard wrong.

“Four hundred… million?”

Her parents nodded.

For years, they had lived simply.

They drove an old car.

They wore ordinary clothes.

They never told anyone about their investments.

Not even their daughter.

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

Her mother touched her face.

“Because money changes people’s hearts.”

“We wanted to know who truly cared about us.”

Tong Tieu Hoa suddenly understood.

Her parents were never poor.

They simply chose to live quietly.

And while Lu Tuan Kiet’s family looked down on her because they thought she had no powerful background, they never knew the truth.

The woman they abandoned was not someone they could bully.

Three days later, Lu Tuan Kiet finally called.

His voice sounded nervous.

“Tieu Hoa.”

She answered calmly.

“Why are you calling me?”

There was silence.

Then he said:

“I heard there was a misunderstanding.”

She almost laughed.

“A misunderstanding?”

“The house disappeared.”

“My belongings disappeared.”

“You disappeared.”

“Which part was the misunderstanding?”

Lu Tuan Kiet lowered his voice.

“I was under pressure.”

“My family made the decision.”

“You know I love you.”

Tong Tieu Hoa looked out the window.

The same man who abandoned her now wanted forgiveness.

“Do you love me?”

“Yes.”

“Then why did you sell our home without telling me?”

He couldn’t answer.

After a long silence, he said:

“I can explain.”

“No need.”

Her voice was calm.

“Your explanation is worth less than the piece of paper you left on my table.”

Lu Tuan Kiet became anxious.

“Tieu Hoa, don’t be like this.”

“My family and I made mistakes, but we can fix them.”

Tong Tieu Hoa smiled.

“The Lu family can fix anything?”

“Then fix the trust you destroyed.”

The call became silent.

Then he asked:

“Are you really going to take legal action?”

Tong Tieu Hoa looked at the documents beside her.

For the first time in days, she felt powerful.

“Yes.”

“Because this is not about money anymore.”

“It’s about the fact that you thought I was someone you could abandon and never face again.”

After hanging up, she looked at her father.

“Did you know this would happen?”

Her father nodded slightly.

“I didn’t know exactly.”

“But I always knew one thing.”

“What?”

He looked at her seriously.

“A person who only respects you when you have value is not someone who deserves your loyalty.”

A week later, the Lu family discovered the truth.

The house they sold was not simply a family asset.

Tong Tieu Hoa had proof of every payment she made.

Every transfer.

Every receipt.

Every agreement.

The money they thought they could take disappeared into legal battles.

Meanwhile, rumors spread throughout the city.

The woman they abandoned had returned.

But she was no longer the quiet daughter-in-law who accepted everything.

She was the person holding the evidence.

And the person they underestimated the most.

Lu Tuan Kiet stood outside her parents’ house one evening.

When Tong Tieu Hoa came out, he looked different.

No longer arrogant.

No longer confident.

Just desperate.

“Tieu Hoa, can we start again?”

She looked at him for a long time.

Then she asked:

“If I had returned with nothing, would you still be standing here?”

His face changed.

And that answer was enough.

Tong Tieu Hoa walked past him.

Because she finally understood something.

The greatest revenge was not making someone regret losing you.

It was becoming someone they could never reach again.

But what nobody expected was that the four hundred million yuan her parents won was not the only secret they had kept from her.

Because hidden inside the old documents was a name.

A name connected to the Lu family.

And the truth behind her husband’s betrayal was far bigger than a stolen house.
