PART 2: The Heirs He Never Knew

The entire hall remained silent.

Not the silence of respect.

The silence before a storm.

Thousands of people watched through cameras as Leonardo Lancaster stood face to face with the woman he had spent fourteen years trying to forget.

Sofia.

And beside her…

Three boys who carried his blood.

His legacy.

His face.

Leonardo looked at Ethan first.

The oldest.

The one standing with his shoulders straight, protecting his mother without hesitation.

Then Caleb.

The calm one.

The one whose eyes seemed to analyze everything around him.

Then Adrian.

The youngest.

The boy who looked at him with the same coldness Leonardo saw every morning in the mirror.

His own expression.

His own eyes.

His own son.

But he had missed everything.

Their first steps.

Their first words.

Their first day of school.

Every birthday.

Every fever.

Every moment when a father should have been there.

His lips moved.

But no sound came out.

Sofia watched him quietly.

Fourteen years ago, she would have given anything to see pain on Leonardo’s face.

Now that she finally saw it, she discovered something unexpected.

It no longer healed anything.

A voice suddenly broke the silence.

Victoria Lancaster.

—This is a ridiculous performance.

Everyone turned.

She walked toward them with the same arrogance she had always carried.

—A woman who disappeared for fourteen years suddenly appears with three children and expects us to believe they belong to Leonardo?

She laughed coldly.

—Do you know how many people would do anything for Lancaster’s fortune?

The cameras immediately turned toward Victoria.

But this time, Sofia did not lower her head.

Not like before.

Not like the young woman who stood in that mansion holding a pregnancy report while begging for a chance.

She stepped forward.

—You are right about one thing, Victoria.

The older woman’s smile widened.

—Finally, you admit it.

Sofia looked directly at her.

—There are people who would do anything for money.

A pause.

—But I am not one of them.

The room became even quieter.

Sofia took out a folder from her bag.

—If I wanted Leonardo’s money, I would have appeared fourteen years ago.

She placed the folder on the nearest table.

—If I wanted his inheritance, I would not have spent fourteen years raising three children alone.

A lawyer standing nearby opened the documents.

His expression changed immediately.

—These are medical records.

He looked at Leonardo.

—The children’s birth records. The dates match.

Another document.

—And this is a DNA test.

The entire room watched as the lawyer read the result.

—The probability of biological relationship between Mr. Leonardo Lancaster and the three children is 99.99%.

No one spoke.

Because there was no longer anything to deny.

Leonardo closed his eyes.

For years, he had convinced himself that Sofia left because she was weak.

Because she couldn’t handle his world.

Because she chose to abandon him.

But the truth was standing right in front of him.

She hadn’t abandoned him.

She had carried the family he had refused to see.

His voice finally appeared.

Broken.

—Why didn’t you tell me?

Sofia looked at him.

The question almost sounded sincere.

Almost.

—Tell you?

She repeated softly.

—Leonardo, I came to your house.

His face changed.

She continued.

—I came to tell you I was pregnant.

The cameras captured his reaction.

Confusion.

Then fear.

—Victoria told me you didn’t want them.

Leonardo turned sharply.

His eyes moved toward his mother.

For the first time, Victoria looked nervous.

—She lied.

The words came quickly.

Too quickly.

—I never said that.

Sofia smiled sadly.

—No.

She shook her head.

—You didn’t say it.

Her gaze returned to Leonardo.

—You let her say it.

That sentence hurt more.

Because it was true.

Fourteen years ago, Leonardo had trusted silence.

He had trusted his mother.

He had trusted Vanessa.

Everyone except the woman who loved him.

A phone suddenly rang.

Everyone looked around.

It was Vanessa Hart.

The name alone changed the atmosphere.

The woman who had destroyed Sofia’s marriage.

The woman whose name had disappeared from public view after Leonardo’s divorce.

Leonardo stared at the phone.

He didn’t answer.

But Sofia noticed.

She noticed everything.

Because fourteen years ago, she had spent every day searching for signs that he still loved her.

Now she only saw the truth.

The man standing in front of her was not the man she remembered.

He was a stranger carrying the face of her past.

Ethan stepped closer.

—Mom, we should leave.

Leonardo looked at him.

The word “Mom” sounded unfamiliar.

Because he had never heard his own children call someone else that.

He had missed fourteen years of being their father.

—Wait.

His voice stopped them.

Ethan looked back.

Leonardo struggled.

For a powerful man who controlled billions, he suddenly looked helpless.

—I know I don’t deserve this.

Sofia remained silent.

—I know I can’t recover fourteen years.

His voice lowered.

—But please let me get to know them.

The three boys looked at their mother.

The decision was hers.

And Leonardo realized something painful.

Even now, after everything, he had no right to demand anything.

Sofia looked at her children.

Then back at him.

—You want to know them?

Leonardo nodded.

She took a deep breath.

—Then start by understanding one thing.

He waited.

—They are not your heirs.

The words shocked everyone.

Sofia continued.

—They are not a solution to your loneliness.

A pause.

—They are not the replacement for the family you lost.

Leonardo lowered his eyes.

—They are human beings.

Her voice became firm.

—And if you want to be their father, you have to earn that title.

For the first time in fourteen years, Leonardo Lancaster had no power.

No money.

No influence.

No way to force someone to forgive him.

Only regret.

The next morning, every major newspaper published the same headline.

THE LANCASTER HEIRS RETURN AFTER FOURTEEN YEARS.

But inside the Lancaster mansion, Leonardo ignored every article.

He sat alone in the old study.

The same room where he had once signed the divorce papers.

On the desk was a photograph he had never seen before.

Sofia.

Holding three newborn babies.

Smiling despite exhaustion.

On the back, there was a handwritten sentence.

“Even if their father never comes, they will always know they were loved.”

Leonardo held the photo with shaking hands.

And for the first time in his life…

The richest man in New York felt completely powerless.

Because he had spent fourteen years building an empire.

But the one thing he wanted most now…

Was the family he had already lost.
