PART 2: The Truth Behind The Hotel Room

For several seconds, I couldn’t speak.

His sister.

Those two words kept repeating in my head.

The woman I had spent fifteen days hating.

The woman I believed had destroyed my marriage.

Was his sister.

I looked at Adrian.

Then at the photo on his phone.

The woman in the picture was indeed someone I had seen before.

Years ago.

Before our wedding.

Before we moved in together.

She had visited our house once.

Adrian had introduced her as someone important to him.

But I never imagined…

I never thought…

“Why didn’t you tell me?”

My voice was barely audible.

Adrian stared at me.

His anger slowly disappeared.

What replaced it was exhaustion.

Pain.

“I tried.”

I froze.

“What?”

He took a step closer.

“But you never asked.”

I wanted to argue.

I wanted to say that wasn’t true.

But my memories came back.

The moment I received the video.

The panic.

The fear.

The certainty that he had betrayed me.

I never called him to ask.

I called to accuse.

I never gave him the chance to explain.

Adrian sat down heavily on the sofa.

For the first time since he entered the mansion, he looked less like the powerful businessman everyone feared.

He looked like my husband.

The man who used to steal food from my plate.

The man who hugged me from behind while I cooked.

The man who would fall asleep holding my hand.

“Her name is Isabella.”

His voice was quiet.

“She is my older sister.”

I remained silent.

“Three months ago, she was diagnosed with a serious illness.”

My expression changed.

“Illness?”

Adrian nodded.

“She refused treatment at first. She thought she was a burden to everyone.”

He looked down.

“She disappeared.”

I remembered the woman in the hotel.

The tired expression.

The way Adrian looked at her.

Not like a lover.

Like someone desperately trying to protect a family member.

“I found her two weeks ago.”

He continued.

“She didn’t want to go to a hospital because she was afraid people would recognize her.”

“So I took her to a private hotel.”

“She stayed there while I arranged everything.”

My fingers tightened.

“Then why didn’t you tell me?”

Adrian looked at me.

“Because I wanted to surprise you.”

A bitter smile appeared on his face.

“I planned to bring her home after everything was ready.”

“She wanted to meet you.”

I lowered my eyes.

The guilt came slowly.

Not because I had left.

Because I had believed the worst about the person I loved without asking.

But then Adrian said something else.

Something that made my heart stop.

“However…”

He paused.

“There was another reason I didn’t answer your calls.”

I looked up.

“What?”

His expression became serious.

“Daniel.”

My husband’s secretary.

The person who sent me the video.

My face changed.

“What about him?”

Adrian took out another phone.

A different one.

He opened a file.

“Daniel was the one who recorded that video.”

I stared.

“He sent it to you?”

Adrian nodded.

“Yes.”

“Why?”

Silence.

Then Adrian said:

“Because he wanted you to misunderstand.”

The room became quiet.

I felt cold.

“But why?”

Adrian looked at me.

“Because he has been trying to destroy my company for months.”

I couldn’t believe it.

“Daniel?”

“The same Daniel who helped me get my secretary position?”

Adrian nodded.

“He wasn’t helping you.”

“He was waiting.”

I remembered every conversation.

Every time Daniel acted like he cared.

Every time he told me Adrian was too busy.

My stomach tightened.

“Why would he do this?”

Adrian looked toward the window.

“Because he believed that if he destroyed my marriage, he could control me.”

I touched my belly.

Suddenly everything felt different.

The past fifteen days.

The fear.

The sadness.

The loneliness.

All caused by a lie.

A carefully planned lie.

Then Adrian looked at me.

And his eyes became red.

“But there is something I don’t understand.”

I didn’t speak.

“Why did you leave without telling me about the baby?”

My body froze.

The question I had avoided.

The question that brought me here.

I looked away.

“I was hurt.”

“Adrian…”

My voice trembled.

“I thought you didn’t love me anymore.”

His expression changed.

“How could you think that?”

I laughed softly.

A painful laugh.

“Because I saw you with another woman.”

He stepped closer.

“I was looking for my sister.”

“And I was preparing to become a father.”

Silence.

Those words hit harder than anything else.

Because they were true.

He didn’t know.

He had spent fifteen days searching for me.

And I had spent fifteen days believing I had lost him.

A small sound interrupted us.

The head butler, Lucas, stood near the door.

He looked uncomfortable.

“Madam…”

I turned.

“Yes?”

He hesitated.

“The doctor called.”

My expression changed.

“What doctor?”

“The one who examined you before.”

“He said your pregnancy needs immediate attention.”

Adrian’s face changed instantly.

Pregnancy.

Baby.

The reason everything started.

He looked at me.

“You were alone all this time?”

I didn’t answer.

Because the answer was obvious.

His eyes became full of pain.

“You were carrying our child…”

His voice broke.

“And I wasn’t there.”

For the first time that night, neither of us blamed the other.

Because we both realized something.

The biggest enemy of our marriage wasn’t another woman.

It wasn’t distance.

It wasn’t a lack of love.

It was a misunderstanding created by someone who wanted to destroy us.

Adrian slowly reached out his hand.

But he stopped before touching me.

Like he was afraid I would disappear again.

“Can I start over?”

I looked at him.

The old me would have immediately said yes.

The old me would have forgiven everything.

But fifteen days had changed me.

“I don’t know.”

His eyes lowered.

And somehow, that answer hurt him more than anger.

I took a deep breath.

“But…”

He looked up.

“I want to hear the whole truth.”

Adrian nodded.

“I’ll tell you everything.”

Outside the mansion, the rain started falling.

Inside, for the first time in fifteen days…

We sat together.

Not as husband and wife who trusted each other completely.

But as two people trying to repair something fragile.

Neither of us knew that the next morning, when Daniel’s secret was revealed…

The person who created this misunderstanding would finally have to face the consequences.
